what must be held in mind, always, is that most—if not all—unidentified objects are just that, and that doesn't make them extra-terrestrial in origin.
we also have to understand how much must be kept secret from the public about 'unidentified' objects because to reveal too much would mean letting the ways of collecting such material out of the bag, potentially putting the ability of the US gov't to keep tabs on the development of air/space craft by other nations (especially nations whose interests are anti-american) and maybe lives in jeopardy. It has to be weighed against the rightful desires of people to know, but governments are elected to do the job of protecting their populations. There'll always be the scales these things are measured on.
