Sex & Shenanigans

I didn't realise gravy was so different for you guys either

I realise this topic is neither sexy or has shenanigans 😂

Gravy means vastly different things to different americans.

Where I came from, it's a thick smooth brown or khaki thing that goes over meat, usually poultry. In other places, it's grey and chunky and you pour it over biscuits (not the British kind of biscuit) as a hearty breakfast. Where I live now, there are many people who use the term to refer to what you'd put on spaghetti out of a Ragu jar. But the kind of people who call that "gravy" would never use a jar; they'd do their "gravy" from scratch. I'd call that "sauce."

We're complicated people.

That's helpful and confusing all at once 😂

Thank you 😊

Biscuits and gravy 🤢 I had it once. Never again.

I had one as part of a hotel breakfast once and the biscuits felt like hockey pucks.

If you get it made by someone who knows what they're doing, it's delightful. But not for people who aren't used to a large breakfast. It's a deceptive dish. If you're normally a person who prefers a lighter meal in the morning, it's easy to go overboard with B&G. "Oh, hell, it's only two biscuits..."

Yeah. No. Two bites is plenty.

Oh I can eat.
The time I ate biscuits and gravy. I was going on road trip with my father. We stopped and stayed overnight. Got up and got breakfast. I’d never had biscuits and gravy. Figured WTH. 1-2 hours later I was telling father to pull over.

I've enjoyed Biscuits And Gravy for breakfast, usually in the South, but I don't know whether any other country actually uses that kind of biscuit for anything.

A bit monochrome, maybe, but very filling.
It’s been a long time since I’ve made this. I want to now 🤣

And that’s why I haven’t made it in forever. It’s motherfucking filling, and my breakfast usually consists of coffee 🤣

I don't "get" grits, but again, I'm not from the South.

Someone else will have to handle that.
grits are like oatmeal but use very coarse ground corn for sustanence. Some people put sugar in their grits while others salt their grits.
