The AH person I would most like to meet IRL is…

Duleigh and MrPixel, you're up
Like a real dachshund we both have fragile backs, I'm not a petting dog, I'm more of a napping on your lapdog or making noise when it's least appreciated
Took one puff of a joint in college. Nearly died coughing.
I NEVER partook of weed, I worked with nukes, high performance airframes, IT Infrastructures, and customers billing records, none of which management allowed to mix with THC (and that maxes out my chemistry skills) Recently my back was really hurting, and after I had been forcibly retired I had tried all the CBD nonsense (Placebos all of them) and I am prescribed Percocet but I refrain from taking it beyond my prescribed limit so a friend convinced me to take a hit off her bong because medical marijuana is legal in FL.

I took a big hit and it floored me, I was stoned out of my mind and had to find a ride home, but I was also paranoid, decades of training took care of that, but worst of all, my back still hurt, horribly. Then she told me how much that shit cost - just a few hits of "medical" marijuana cost about the same as three gallons of "medical" gin. After that episode I decided to rely on solar power to help with my back.

I sang in choirs for... twenty plus years, thinking back. It's skewed my music taste quite heavily
Same here. Give me melody surrounded on all sides with a diminished seventh chord and I'm a happy guy. Repetitious nonsense bellowed out by a "Singer/songwriter" who excel at neither has driven me away from the music scene.

If someone could bring their dog, that would be great.
Duleigh and MrPixel, you're up. 😊

AH group meet? Sky would be all over that. He loves everybody, and his smile is infectious. Just guard your food. He's quick.

Seriously, he has been a huge hit around the campground. Universal reaction is, "Awwwwww... he's beautiful. May I?"

As to music... you guys mostly know where I stand. I don't pay much attention to popular music and artists. I don't hate it like I used to (the stupid barely-music noise during the garage band era). And I can certainly help anybody who wants to push grunge rock off a tall cliff. Horrible.

But I have grown to appreciate popular forms with musical complexity. Queen, for instance, though I "discovered" them long after Freddy passed. And then there are the moody ballads. Gordon Lightfoot, who recently passed, is a favorite. Kris Kristofferson, too.

Pot? I think I told y'all of my one encounter. A gaggle of cuties dragged me along on a beach island weekend (Cumberland Island, @Duleigh ) with the apparent goal of molesting me. They failed. Anyway, one of them shared a doobie. I was fine and will admit enjoying the sensations, but made me even more useless (...to them...) than I started with. Ah, hindsight.

Gordon Lightfoot truly had a voice, I would have loved to have heard him with Michael McDonald but as far as I could tell it never happened. You can't mistake the sound of a singer that truly crafted his/her talent. Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme... When they were popular I hated their music, now that I've learned appreciation for vocal talent I can't get enough. Properly trained the human voice is one of the greatest musical instruments ever heard. I love classical choirs like the Academy of St. Martins in the Field (I need to find out if St. Martin was playing infield or out in left field) but I can never get enough of Manhattan Transfer

I LOVE this one

Oh, it does, it does! But the chemistry is... complicated. I have a bottle. Shall we test our theory?
Do you still have the bottle, or is it long gone?

We have this méthode traditionnelle made in the US by Louis Roederer. It’s really very good.

I lied about having only a single bottle. I have an entire tray in the fridge full of bubbles. 🥂

What...and I cannot stress this enough...the actual FUCK?

Sounds like a bunch of drunk old Irishmen took the Melanie song, mashed it with the Muppets Theme, threw in some bad innuendo with a dash of misogyny, and recorded it after a three day bender.

You can almost smell the beer sweat and stale cigarette smoke.
You say that like it's a bad thing...?

Okay, so on topic, first of all I'd like to meet @seraph_nocturne. She is basically an internet sister to me, and we are alike enough in certain areas that it's spooky.

Second pick would have to be @Duleigh. He's basically like my grandpa, but he's been the most consistently cool dude on this site.
I like Seraph Nocturne, we had a really meaningful conversation the other day which unfortunately got me totaling the number of friends and relatives who have preceded me across the divide. As for consistently cool? It's the training. This is what REALLY cool actually looks like.

Ba dum, tisss!

But when I say "consistently cool" I mean that just about everyone in the AH (myself included) gets snarky and rude sometimes. But if you've ever been that way, I've not seen it.
Well, when you can die just by going outside to start the car, when your job consists of arming an aircraft with a dozen nuclear warheads, and each warhead can make Hiroshima look like a Christmas cracker, and you do it in the weather that can kill you, you realize what is truly important in this short time we have here, like your friends and co-workers (co-authors) so I step away or change topics when I need to. There's plenty of us folks that were blessed with the chance to learn that lesson.

You know I’d link up in a heart beat! I’m not shy, I’ve met internet friends in person all over the place… had an old roleplay buddy from the UK even make the trip over to the east coast and crash with me for a bit! I thought she was nuts to be so trusting, but we had known one another for years… picked her up from the airport even!

If you’re ever over in Atlanta, hit me up, we can do a double date with the menfolk at Dave and Busters or something and make total asses out of ourselves. 😂

Since I’m here, I’d love to meet @NoTalentHack. I’ve been a fan for a long time now, I feel like we’d vibe expertly chatting about writing in a little cafe somewhere. 😌

I'm between NAS JAX, Mayport, Kings Bay Sub base, and an American Legion post that looks like the NCO club at anyone of those bases. I could have met you already.

Maybe.
It's been almost 20 years since I've been in JAX though.

I had an author PM me and said that I come across as "asshole-ish"

I responded by stating that I simply "don't put up with dipshittery and phonies"

I’d suggest we just organize one but AH Writers con and everyone is invited for a meet and greet so nobody is left out… but something tells me a bunch of horny erotica writers in one place isn’t going to go over quite the way I imagine. 😅
I think people would be on their better behavior mode.
Most of us are just normal, everyday people who do this for fun.

I think you’re right… I’m imagining now it would be a room full of awkward individuals sipping coffee and making bad jokes. 😅

A Zoom meet up would probably be the best bet, seeing as from what I can tell, the authors here are stretched across the globe.
