British Music

I'm having a night listening to some real classics from pretty famous British bands and I'm curious, how many of non-British people here, have some favourite Brit bands?

Let me know what band does it for you and what songs.

Anyone for Oasis? Arctic Monkeys? Queen? AC/DC?
Depeche mode, the cure, yaz... I love British 80s alternative

Wow!! Super good. I had to listen to it all the way thru. Damn. Wish I was high listening to that. I will check out some of their other stuff. Great song.
Not all their stuff is the same style but did some great stuff, glad you liked it :)

From the 1980's :

Not sure if any of you have heard of this band?

Thanks for sharing! I’d never heard this song nor the band. Cool pop/disco song. Reminds me of music growing up!!

I googled it and saw Alan Hawkshaw was in that band.

I know this song by him.

Yes he was for a couple of years a full member and used to help out on later recordings, sadly died a couple of years ago.
Their first keyboard player, later Francis Monkman who died recently.

I always liked this genre - boot boy music. This song is on one of my bootboy comps and here’s is the description:

“Take some '66 Pete Townsend power chords, lyrics about going down the terraces on a Saturday afternoon with mates looking for a "punch up" as played by a band composed of flares and braces wearing bootboys and mods; then you have a basic component of the skinhead oi! ethos in it's embryonic stage. Jook put out five glam and power pop-tinged singles between '72 and '74 & a posthumous EP in '78, from which this 1974 song is taken. They clearly wrote from direct experience, in the language of their brethren in the Different (working) Class.
