If there's one thing I've noticed around here is the large amount of posts bashing every dumbass opinion and action of every Florida man who robs a liquor store with an alligator or yahoo who thinks drinking bleach is a cure for disease. Are conservative right wingers dumb as fuck? Well of course they are but relentlessly pointing that out does absolutely nothing to advance progressive causes and needed legislation.

The only thing that will do that is holding all politicians accountable for the results of their votes in office. Shamefully the Democrats have failed at this over and over. Failure has become so normalized it's used as a fund raising mechanism rather than a major clue that their failed strategies are not working and need to be changed.

Using failed political strategies and buzzwords like bashing chronically mis/uniformed voters and insulting them with childish name calling does nothing to get desperately needed legislation like universal health care passed. Dry humping the most fringe civil right rights causes like trans representation in children's programming and books also is a loser.

All I see is petty tribal cultural warfare that does nothing to improve the lives or living standards of anyone. It's a distraction. If smug and insulting Democrats just spent half as much time championing universal health care, increasing the minimum wage, and affordable housing you'd actually might accomplish something. Calling out dumb fucks as deplorable does nothing but satisfy your desire to feel superior over idiots. As horribly ignorant as they are they need to be educated and converted, Not insulted and their votes abandoned.

Keep your eyes on the prize and not let yourself get preoccupied by the shenanigans of morons and their corporate/political handlers. Making stupid people look stupid is fun and easy. But it's no substitute for real changes that are needed to improve people's lives.

in most realities, LASTING change comes in increments... and we can applaud those while still pressing for better, for more, for fairness and education, justice without brutality, prison reform without tarring every prison officer/gov with the brush of corruption, demanding honesty of representatives without assuming every one of them is tainted and only out for themselves.

Big, radical changes can be fantastic, but are too often prone to being rescinded by the next party that gets into power, from a small town to a big city to a nation. Solid gains are made working through the middle ground and by creating public awareness of issues facing them.
