My PMs are a mix of friendly chats, shared info, a bit of more friendly flirting and the, unfortunately all too common, overly creepy stuff.
If I move off here it's usually Skype or Google chat but not everyone I talk to there is to "play with". If I'm talking to someone regularly then Skype can help a conversation move at a better speed so I'm not constantly refreshing the page

First interactions, usually after interest is sparked by something posted in the threads.
When i first returned I did, but it's something i do very rarely now
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, lol. Like, I don't feel obligated to respond to every PM. But if someone takes the times to send me a thoughtful message, I try to do the same in return.
I only have a couple people that I talk to regularly in PMs. Everyone else is on Skype... except you lol.

my pms are mostly where dirty thoughts go to die. Once I know someone well from the threads, if I wish to talk more privately, I tend to move it to skype.

As a side note, there are people I don’t interact with off threads at all. I don’t feel like we have a lot in common, or I feel like it would be a moment where I would make them uncomfortable. So I just don’t.

This makes lots of sense. I wasn't thinking if moving platforms for sexier stuff, or only for play, but for eaze if conversation. I think I hesitate to move platforms for a few reasons.
1-i don't have skype. If I did i may never get off my phone lol
2-because I worry that leaving Lit may signal a willingness to take things in a direction I'm not intending although I think I’m clear when it's a friend situation or more.
3-i worry about skype safety although it's supposed to be safe.

Sadly, in my business, I am on my phone like 24/7, so I more than understand that and it's hard to stay off lit. But sometimes my eyes are screaming enough. lol.
I found Skype to be safe, but it also I have set my boundaries from the start. I am not a video or audio person. And that delete/block is an easy tool if need be.

Skype does make sexy stuff easier no doubt, but the biggest perk for me really is the ease of messaging. For me, Skype isn't really more or less secure than most other options. I use a dedicated email address for just that so it's not connected to any emails I actually use, so that is nice too.
The other option I always suggest is Signal, which is very secure. However Signal is what my wife and I used for exchanging NSFW things on the rare occasion that happens. So, didn't want to get lines crossed there for obvious reasons.

I have a very small number of people I message with on here, and a smaller number off site. I am too reserved to begin conversations very often. I flirt on lot on the threads but there aren’t as many who I would want to play or just be good friends with. I think I miss out on some by not messaging them first.
