In all seriousness, there is alot of cool stuff to see. But it really as gone downhill even more in recent years. Used to be as long as you avoided certain areas you'd be fine, and thats still MOSTLY true, but less so than it used to be.

I avoid going into the city unless I have to. I'm able to carry which makes me feel a little safer, but there's lots of places you can't carry in Chicago so ends up being a moot point.

Eh, I've been going there since the 80s. Still a great city. Like any big city, you need to be aware of your surroundings, what areas are walkable and what public transportation to use (I'd avoid the L, especially at night). I'll be there again in a week and a half. Can't wait.

Perhaps you meant DC? Which NOVA is certainly (at least part) of the DC MSA. But, DC is in VA and MD, both in the "southeast?"
