This table is just right for 2 couples. For you and me and two of our friends.
It's round and smooth without edges. We have a pot of some exotic tea. I'll fill up everybody's cup, looking at one another with gentle smiles, holding our cups, a gesture of saying “nice”.

Not generally a modern furniture guy, but that has a simple elegance. I do wonder how comfortable the chairs are.
