Schumer and Biden have insisted on a “clean” bill all year. They drew a line in the sand and haven’t budged an inch, knowing full well that they cannot possibly find 60 votes. And so here we are on May 12 and Schumer hasn’t even scheduled a vote. Reality will sink in soon enough and they’ll have to negotiate. It’s like passing a kidney stone. It will hurt like hell but it will pass.Again, you want them to pass it in 17 days when the house took 3 months to do theirs? Even the seemingly united Democrats in the Senate have their outliers to deal with and do not have enough votes to override those fringe Democrats. 17 days just isn't enough time to do the same thing the House took 90+
to do.
So the Democrats are the only ones playing games? And why should the president trust McCarthy to negotiate in good faith? What happened the last time a Democratic president did that? The Republicans agreed to a settlement, then VOTED AGAINST it when it come up for a vote. Once bitten twice shy.
