No matter who they are or what they've allegedly done, they are still entitled to a defense.
Which means someone's got to step up and do it.

There are procedural issues which may result in this jury decision being overturned.
The appeals court may also find that the jury was correct and that the procedural issues weren't prejudicial to their finding.
Until that happens, this game is not over despite how you feel about other non-related events/persons.
