Against nearly all expectations, he got that bill passed and flipped the script on Democrats. The right can lament Pelosi for ruling with “an iron fist” all they want, but the fact remains she was one of the most effective Speakers in American history at keeping her members together. McCarthy doesn’t have the iron fist option. He got the job by the skin of his teeth and is in an extremely vulnerable position to retain it. He had to unify his members by taking a bottoms up approach. So yes, the win really is remarkable. He got it via reps who knew the chances of that bill actually ending up being signed were nil.
Besides, this is exactly the sort of thing where when the Democrats do it, the likes of you say it's Pelosi ruling her delegation with an iron fist. When McCarthy does it, it's remarkable Republican unity, isn't it?
