"On the Job" Story Event 2023

Have you ever written a large portion of a story, began proofreading it, and then immediately thought, "Oh wow. This is absolute horseshit. This isn't fun, this isn't sexy, and this certainly isn't well written.

I am still trying to finish a story in time for this challenge, and boy do I hate my own writing at the moment.

I'm lucky that this keyboard is cordless, because, otherwise, I definitely would have strangled myself by now.

On an unrelated note, has anyone seen my laptop charger? 😵
Yep. As a matter of fact, my OTJ story sat dead for two years. The concept was fine, but I got to a point where I thought the whole thing was rubbish. It just didn't make sense until a friend was dumped by her boyfriend and I saw her situation as similar to my character. Away it went.

Haven't seen your charger. Did you leave it in your car?

Yeah, I think my concept is fine, but my writing isn't there.

Also, I found my laptop charger, but I'm feeling a little better, so I probably won't strangle myself with it. Lol

Yes, one year ago today when I emerged from a work imposed exile I tried to write a story based on one written by Golden Angel years ago. It was my first foray into Non Consent and it never felt right. I thought I had it cleaned up in editing but my readers let me know otherwise. That was my last attempt at that genre too.

Good news about the charger. They're a pain to replace.

I suppose you can try all the usual suggestions - write or read something new, come up with the ending and work back, ask for someone to read it and offer suggestions, or just do what I did and ignore it until it found its own solution.

Good luck.

Happens a lot. In my straight fiction too. Usually I'll just put it aside for a while. Sometimes that becomes forever, but no biggie. If you don't fail once in a while, have a few duds, you're not pushing yourself hard enough. But other tiimes, after I've gotten a little distance from it, I come back and the core flaw is obvious, and fixable.

Usually there is a flaw deeper than just the writing. Maybe you had a scene in mind, and you're married to it, but it doesn't fit. You can't get the characters to do that, or it doesn't make sense in the interesting plot you've developed. Your subconscious knows that, and it keeps trying to stop you from moving forward on it.

If you really want to do that story, look for that one part you most want to not give up, and ask yourself if you should give it up. It's common for a story to become something almost entirely different than what I had in mind when I started. And when I let that happen, it makes a better story. Or look at it from the POV of a reader, and ask what's missing, what information, back story, character, plot event, whatever, will give it what it needs to work.

In other news, my entry finally got posted. https://literotica.com/s/nudios-pizza-on-the-job-challenge

Description:

"On the Job" 2023

It's one of the most common fantasies in the world. You see someone sharply dressed, diligently performing a task with the utmost professionalism. Maybe it's your boss or co-worker. Or maybe it's the person serving you.

But of course, sex is always in the back of your mind.

On April 24th, Monday, right here on Literotica, those themes will be explored in all their beautiful glory.

Because who doesn't desire sex in the workplace?

Guidelines:

- The ENTIRE story must happen at a place of employment
- At least one character must be an employee
- Doesn't have to be one scene. Make as many scenes as you want.
- Examples include; a retail business, a professor at college, an airline employee at the airport or airplane, a hotel attendant, and of course an office worker. etc...

Date:

The posting period is between April 16 - April 23

Final list to be posted on April 24, Monday

Should have mentioned it sooner but I am uploading "Animate Rentals " in non-con. It's a penal slavery universe story.

Oh boy... Click and Collect: The Prenup just went live for On The Job. It's my first foray into LW and they are just caning it! I guess my new BTB subvariant trope did not sit well: ETBIAILP*

LW is where stories go to be abused. Sorry you had that experience. I will say that it was probably more erotic horror than LW

I do not normally read or write LW, but I find the dynamic of that category infinitely fascinating.

Imagine a category called "Pineapple on Pizza" at it's full of people at each other's throats, over wether or not pineapple on pizza is delicious or a crime against nature.
THAT'S LW, in a nut shell.

If you write a cuck story, half the LW will hate it. But if you write BTB, the other half will hate it.

I think it's the funniest thing to observe from the side-lines. But I'm sorry it happened to you.

I'll read your story and give it an unbiased rating.

[Edit] Just read it. Creepy as fuck. I liked it, but honestly basically just as a horror story. Well done, though.

Thanks! Yeah, could have been elsewhere but it got put there in conversation with @NoTalentHack as a toe in the water. I was the same with Non-con before I dropped Alena's Game in there.

I don't actually mind the 3.8 score and the comments. Like Elon, launch early, launch often, learn. You have to expect the occasional Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.

Okay, so today is the last day of posting period, but if I publish a story today, it'll be added, whenever it eventually shows up? Right?

I finally got mine finished and submitted today. Hopefully I got the story in time, Melbourne Australia is long way ahead of Literotica in the USA so I should be okay.

I've struggled with my writing this year, probably due to work commitments, and have only one story to date this year, an Erotic Couplings story for Valentine's Day.

My story is called 'Witness Protection Trophy Wives', which won't win as it is going into Loving Wives, but should attract plenty of opinions about the story and of me for writing the story.

Good thing it's not a competition.😁

Best of luck with it.

Nothing wrong with Melbourne. Second best city in Australia...! Good luck in LW. They're an enthusiastic bunch!

Okay so I just submitted my On The Job story.

Did I make the deadline? There's no way it's gonna get published by tomorrow, right?

How does that work?

Chloe seems to get them in under the wire. As your story comes in the Notes to Administrators are scanned for contests and events like this and they get put on the web page. I hope you made it!

I don't think they like it very much, it has a score of 2.2 from 15 votes since it was posted 4 hours ago. The comments haven't come through yet.
Sounds like my fan club sharpening the knives....

Submissions close tomorrow according to the announcement on the front page.
This is what's on the OP of this thread:

"The posting period is between April 16 - April 23

Final list to be posted on April 24, Monday"

Today is 24 April.

I understand that. What is listed on the front page is different, and Laurel makes up the list, so her timeline trumps this thread.
