Little kiwi mum!!!!
And how did it go?!? I’m proud of you btwGood evening Nebs. I did it!
Good to know!!You could use honey instead of sugar. The original version was of course with honey, because sugar wasn't imported into Europe before renessaince. It was probably also with more alcohol. Today we use white and dark sugar usually.
Welcome welcome! Enjoy Lit. And chaos. It’s very addicting!Hi everyone, new to the forum and this is my first post. Loving this site so far xx
And there are other versions too, of course. Like not using lemons but rhubarb. Or adding herbs. Maybe some day I'll get myself trying that.Good to know!!
How’s it going over there in the future?Hi Nebs!![]()
The rhubarb sounds awesomeAnd there are other versions too, of course. Like not using lemons but rhubarb. Or adding herbs. Maybe some day I'll get myself trying that.
I wonder if molasses would work too. The sugar content is high enough to ferment (it’s what Rum is made from) but I wonder how the flavor would be.And there are other versions too, of course. Like not using lemons but rhubarb. Or adding herbs. Maybe some day I'll get myself trying that.
It would work. But most people don't like using just brown sugar (50/50 white and brown is the norm here). I have used even all brown - which is white sugar with some molasses.I wonder if molasses would work too. Lefty for life!!!Amen. I'm a lefty too
No response yet. But I did reach out. The worst thing is a no answer. And that is not so bad. Thanks for your support and all the others here too.And how did it go?!? I’m proud of you btw
I have rhubarb still in the freezer. You would use honey with the rhubarb? And there are other versions too, of course. Like not using lemons but rhubarb. Or adding herbs. Maybe some day I'll get myself trying that.
The worst thing is never knowing because you didn’t try! Which you did. And if she doesn’t reply, you always have us. And we adore youNo response yet. But I did reach out. The worst thing is a no answer. And that is not so bad. Thanks for your support and all the others here too.
I haven't ever really tried it. Mom did, when I was a kid. Some of the bottles (all glass at that time, event soda bottles were still all glass!) exploded, which made her realise it had become a bit stronger stuff! So it wasn't for kids, and dad didn't like it, so she drank it all over a few months. The rhubarb sounds awesome
The recipes mostly use sugar, probably because it's cheaper.I have rhubarb still in the freezer. You would use honey with the rhubarb?
They exploded??? Who knew rhubarb could be so potentI haven't ever really tried it. Mom did, when I was a kid. It was a mystery why it turned out that way, but apparently beings more acidic instead of having more alcohol is common for the rhubarb version. Should be very refreshing.
I used to make stout and remember all the sugar. The recipes mostly use sugar, probably because it's cheaper.
Tomorrow after you get some sleep little owl. LOL - sound too much like a parent - sorry.@B2fromA2looking4U remind me later and I'll translate a recipe with rhubarb for you.
Well the explosion was because it had brewed stronger than expected. That means no just more alcohol but also more bubbles = pressure! They exploded??? Who knew rhubarb could be so potent
There's certainly coffee, tea and whatnot here. Take a seat and grab a mug!Hi, I'm new here, is this a cafe? It's nice to meet everyone!![]()
