The reality is gun regulations have become more permissive over the entirety of my lifetime. On a federal level restrictions have been continually pulled back. You keep saying gun laws don't work. We would actually have to have some reasonable ones first. The majority of American citizens actually want stricter gun laws. If they'd get their butts to the polls then they might get some of those wishes enacted into policy. And that would actually include things like mental health policy and social support. But the conservatives and the republicans have fought tooth and nail against both of those all while loosening gun regulations.

You can blame everything from the man in the moon to fire extinguishers for gun violence, but I think it's really irresponsible to not look at the actual gun in the gun violence.

Where I lived Hunter Safety Courses were REQUIRED for youth to be able to hunt alongside their parents or older siblings. Parents taught gun safety because in the rural predators can be a huge detriment to farm animals and firearms were sometimes needed to protect farm animals.
