Another successful school shooting today.

More whining...poor you.

Focus on your personal State...then we can talk about how to fix the Country after your state becomes something others desire. Lead by example
What is this garbage reply? Personal attack just because I'm telling the truth.

Go lead that revolution Don Quixote. See how far it gets you.

Personal insults is a poor substitute for data or facts. Do you have any? I've posted several articles from mainstream news sources confirming my assertions. So far all you've done is posted your hurt feelings about Americans not as gullible and privileged as you are.
You've repeated the same anti voting propaganda over and over again. Whole not addressing anything I have actually said. The fact is we do not have a representative government because more than half of our citizens would rather be consumers. Once you feel like addressing that point then you will have joined the discussion. You are basing your points off of the assumption that we actually have an engaged electorate. We do not.

Gullible and privileged. Yeah. Sure. Right.

You think they're going to rebel in the streets when they can't even be bothered to care to vote. How quaint.

Sucks being you. Constantly bitching about disenfranchised voters...blaming them...instead of blaming the parties that alienate them. Like I said...if you got the solutions...implement them in your own shit hole of a state.

I'm sorry for you.

We are going to find this shooting is very different from many others. This girl...was an ex student. In a religious school. Who wants to bet that abuse happened and no one did anything? That is not condoning the behavior. Killing kids is simply unacceptable. But something snapped here. And it was directed. What did she see in the kids?

I am not the one blaming others for your unhappiness

Actually yes you are and do. Ironic that. Tell us how you feel about the red states and how you think the solution is a national divorce.

You guys always think I'm unhappy and angry. Simply because you don't know how to deal with a woman who doesn't pull punches or coddle your egos. It's freaking hilarious. I'm in a pretty good situation where most of this shit doesn't effect me directly (well unless I get randomly shot by some dumbass man with a gun, but I digress.) I do however have this thing called empathy and a sense of responsibility and civic duty. Try it some time.

I blame the non voters for the state of America. They have disenfranchised themselves.

Just like Republicans you are blaming the people with the least amount of power and influence (like dirt poor immigrants and other people of color) for society's problems. Instead of the billionaires who control everything through dark money in the billions who are running the show.

Your belief that wage workers have the same influence as billionaires and corporations on public on policy is "Brian Epstein hung himself in jail" level gullible and stupid.

Odd I never said any of that.

I said that they don't vote. Specifically over half of the eligible voters. I also said that 1/3 don't vote at all.

(*Looks". Nope, I don't see where I said that wage workers are as powerful as billionaires. *Checks again over my posts*. Nope not in those over there for sure.)

Let's try again: When less than half of all eligible voters actively vote and a third don't vote at all then we don't have a representative government.

(*Checks again*. Nope. Definitely not saying what you said there again.)

By not voting en masse, they have actively disenfranchised themselves.

(*Looking*. Still not seeing where I said any of those. I hope we've put that to rest.)

The most accurate thing to correlate with your statements would be that I think that since over half of all eligible voters don't vote actively (only every 4 years) and that a third don't vote at all, their self disenfranchisement has allowed the big corporations and the billionaires to have an outsized role in how our government functions.

And the above statement is 100% true.

More opinions based in hurt feelings. Do you have any data what so ever to confirm any of these assertions? I have no problem posting empirical evidence published in mainstream news sources confirming mine. Do you have any data claiming Americans don't vote because they're lazy? No you don't because that's not the reality of the situation. Americans don't vote because the major parties do not represent them and minor parties are excluded from debate.

Now go find some legitimate data from mainstream news sources* confirming your assertions and save your emotion based opinions for the ladies at yoga class and Starbucks.

*Your ass is not a legitimate news source.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

I said they don't vote because they don't care. Which is obvious because (get ready, I hope you're sitting down) people make time for the things they care about and think are important.

In the meantime, it's good of you to actually join the discussion. Good of you to catch up finally. Too bad you're such a dick.

You think people don't care about public policy issues? That's pure bullshit and you know it. They come out and vote for marijuana legalization. They come out and vote to raise the minimum wage. You yourself were crowing about people coming out to vote down oppressive anti-abortion legislation.

What they don't do is go out voting for political parties that don't deliver and only serve their corporate masters. You tell me. Which party supports and fights for Medicare for All? How about lowering all prescription drug prices? You telling me people don't care about having universal health insurance and wouldn't vote for politicians that delivered it?

If you're working two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet, have child care issues, low on bus fare, and don't have two extra hours to stand in line in the hot sun, maybe voting for corrupt multi-millionaire politicians who take their marching orders from insurance and drug corporations is not the best use of your time.

Not everybody has a two story house with a three car garage in the suburbs who can smugly bitch about the poors who don't vote on their Apple MacBook Pro all day.

No they didn't. Woooweee they increased turnout by a whopping 2 to 4% points depending on demographic. For the general election. That's not actively voting. That's a slight increase for what should be slam dunk policy issues considering that most support them. But that support didn't translate into them raising the voting average numbers.

I'm sure that when you eat your vegetables once every four years, that's enough fiber to be healthy right?

Why should any party fight for medicare for all when the people can't be bothered to fight for it? You don't seem to understand how accountability works.

The position you are describing is not the majority of non voters and inactive voters - some yes, but not all. And you know it. The sad reality is that we realistically would only need an additional 20% of non voters (note, not even a 20% increase in over all voter participation, just 20% of those who don't actively vote or vote at all) to start voting actively to majorly shift the politics and policies around. That's statistical reality. Try math.

I find it hilarious that you ascribe a lavish lifestyle to me full of hoity toity bullshit. Does it make you feel better about being wrong? I'm either dirt poor and miserable or upper class hoi polloi. How many different erroneous assumptions can you simpletons make about me to fuel your feeble attempts to discredit what I am saying?

Most Americans don't vote so how could they be represented by any party.

Fucking dumb ass argument you've got there.

You sound oddly like that canthelp idiot when cornered.

Honestly I'm very curious if they have numbers on where the non-voters live. While I don't always get the Senator that I want I often don't vote, or only vote on very specific things because I live in SoCal. I would have prefered Bernie sure, but I never thought for a second he could beat Trump. I got as close to represented as happens in a numbers game where 50%+1 wins. 40/30/30 wouldn't get me anywhere but letting the House pick the president in any given year.

As far as I can tell there are some aggregate numbers on voting statistics, but to dig down and get to the nitty gritty you actually have to spend some time getting into the local and state numbers.

I can tell you that for my county - considered blue in a red state - less than 20% of registered voters showed up for the last primary. (County supervisor of elections website voting numbers raw data.) Then compare that to the population of the county, break out demographics for age and eligibility and it ended up being about 10% of the eligible voters in my blue county that showed up for the last primary election. Midterm numbers were better but fell far short of the number for the general.

It's.... pathetic. Frankly I think we should do what Australia does and have mandatory voting.

But that won't happen because there are a lot of efforts - and a lot of money to be made - in voter suppression. The sad thing is that most people don't even realize they are parroting it line by line. Self disenfranchisement - the most effective way to let plutocrats run (and ruin) the country.

Bless your heart. I bet you believe Washington chopped down the cherry tree and Lincoln was born in a log cabin. You think if more people voted the influence of billions of dollars of dark money funneled to Democrats will just go away like magic? Biden could sign Medicare for All into law TODAY. He could lower all drug prices TODAY. He could legalize marijuana TODAY. Why isn't he doing it? Enough people voted for him. He has the power. Why isn't it being done? This bullshit about more people needing to vote in order to affect change is just that, pure bullshit.

You're too much of an idiot to think you can be that condescending.

Especially with that kind of understanding of politics and numbers.

Why isn't it being done? Because he doesn't have a mandate because there is not a clear majority in the senate or the house because... JFC, give me a record to break .... half of the eligible voters in America can't get off their asses to demand it.
