Dancewise I would like to clarify something, because it's not so true in the mainstream @Strixaluco can confirm this. If you are really into dancing asking someone for a dance, or even asking someone to come to a dance with you is not necessarily an emotional statement about how you feel about the person. It's about wanting to share the manic fun that dancers find in dance (there may be a subtext of more, but it wouldn't be why you are asked).
