I work at the power plant (18 km away, about 11 miles) AND the local hospital is at the end of my street. We still loose power all the time.

I really hope they have good backup generators in the hospital!

I have an app on my phone that monitors many of my clients power systems. We’re having big storms right now that keep interrupting the utility so I keep getting notifications with ever power glitch.

So far everyone’s been fine through the outages except for one guy who forgot to keep up with his generator maintenance.

When my kids were little they had a realistic puppet owl that looked a lot like that. One summer night they set up a tent in the yard and asked if they could sleep out there.

At dusk they came into the house, “Mom, Dad! Come see! There’s a big owl right next to the tent!”

My wife looked out the window and saw what looked like their puppet. We humored them, thinking there was no way they could have gotten out of the tent without spooking a real owl.

We followed them outside as they walked right up to about five feet away from it….and it turned its head! It stayed there for a minute before casually turning around and taking wing.

Good omen.

We actually had one living in our neighborhood, here in Las Vegas. I only caught a few glimpses of it, but heard it all the time for several years until I moved. There were two huge trees in my yard, I think he lived up there.
