Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Morning all.

Note to self: wine and whiskey means waking up in front of the tv at 3:15 AM and dragging your sorry ass to bed and waking up very tired.

I never learn.
Alcohol also means loosing deep sleep phases. One small glass of water wine (12ml) or a small beer (0,33 l, a pint is 0,46 I think) will loose you one phase. Drink 5, and you'll loose all deep sleep in a 8h night. In addition the body has the burden of the burning out the alcohol.

Which is why I avoid alcohol when exhausted.

Thanks and I have and am seeing a sleep specialist. No one seems to be able to explain how to undo the effects of chronic sleep deficit. I will keep looking.
6h isn't quite enough to undo those effects. You probably need more to start to recover.

Thanks Sttix. I’m trying to work the average upto 7 hours. Hopefully eventually 7.5/8
I wish you patience and luck in that.

And if I guess right, one result of the chronic deficit is a constant craving for sweets. (Sleep deficit tends meds up with the blood sugar regulation.) So if you are able, pay attention to the quality of food to counteract that. More veggies and berries (berries rather than fruits).

Should it bother me that I read that and it made sense? Snow Day here. Between the snow we got last night and the freezing rain we're getting now, its a nasty mess out there in the Queen' Bush.
If that made sense to you, I think you are doing it right!
Also, note...move south, there's no snow here today and it will hit 70.

To my fellow sleepless Chaos-ers. Has anyone tried melatonin gummies or pills? Just wondering what your experience is if so.

I use the slow, depot-version to make me sleep better. If I forget that or magnesium, I notice it clearly.

The ordinary, "quick" melatonin is better for falling asleep, but with that I may wake up in the middle of the night.

Yeah I usually go to sleep immediately after I hit the pillow so I don't really need help with that. I just want to stay asleep.

Well then you might want to try the slow/long/depot pills - not the ordinary ones. Here 1,9mg is the strongest you can buy without prescription, so that's what I use.

Wife eats two melatonin gummies, helps her get to sleep.
