I'm fairly certain if Republicans try to pull a stunt like that but Biden will beat them about the head and shoulders with their commitments at the State of the Union speech.

The thing I noticed about the Republican response is that the things they campaigned on has nothing to do with the policies and legislation they are advancing.

They were supposed to be the party that understood American pain from inflation...etc. they've passed performance legislation meant to win culture wars

It was fun to watch President Biden bait the trap and then to watch the MAGAts walk right into it:

President Biden actually got the “republicans” to negotiate in public and declare in front of the whole country at a SOTU that Social Security and Medicare were untouchable. Now the “republicans” can either leave those programs alone or leverage them against raising the debt ceiling and look like even bigger idiots.

If Joe Biden does decide to retire in 2024 - and I hope that he does, he should take up flyfishing. That was a political Master class in how to put your opponents in a corner and show the entire country how they will self destruct.

In the age of social media, most people absorb this stuff via media clips. And that sorta stuff is difficult to track realistically.
