President Biden actually got the “republicans” to negotiate in public and declare in front of the whole country at a SOTU that Social Security and Medicare were untouchable. Now the “republicans” can either leave those programs alone or leverage them against raising the debt ceiling and look like even bigger idiots.

Weaker McCarthy just got weaker.

That copy of the SOTU they gave Weaker McCarthy better have been pre-perforated AND had the first part of the tear started for him.

I haven't read it yet, but fully expected:
-a self congratulatory pat on the back for all the legislation he got passed
- bragging of the job creation and gdp increases of recent
-mention of the challenges faced globally by Russia, China and Iran
And
-a positive spin on keeping America strong and solving long standing issues by reaching across the aisle to work for all Americans.
And maybe a call out to Nichols family with a promise to work towards police reform and a call out to his exiting chief of staff for all of his hard work.
I'm probably off on a few....I never watch the speech...just read the transcript afterward and see if I guessed right.
I'm sure the GOP responded in kind with tons of spin about how Biden sucks and they'll do better if you elect their "guy"....and probably won't mention the performative bullshit the house has been passing.

I didn't watch it. But then I rarely do. I enjoyed not having the crazy Trump drama all over the news like it was for his 4 years. I thought that the rebuttal calling Republicans sane and Democrats crazy was rather odd considering the likes of MTG and company. And Santos, can't forget him.
