Exactly. one of my hobbies is doing living history interpretation at a Hudson Bay Co Fort. The history of HBC is a huge part of the history of population expansion across Canada, and huge swathes of the US, global trade patterns and introduction of manufactured goods to the indigenous population. HBC was the Amazon of 1600-1900 worldwide. anyone nerdy enough to be interested I have a book list I can recommend.
