Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

Funny, that song make me think of Tommy James. probably because I am old. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well, I'm not young either :giggle:.
But that song didn't find it's way to the charts in Sweden until Joan Jett did her cover of it. And I didn't hear the original version until about ten years ago.

I think music is the sound of emotion. At least to me it is.
Speaking of sound and emotion. It was summer 1985 and Bruce Springsteen was performing in Gothenburg. My girlfriend at the time was so into him and wanted to go. I was not so into him. I like some of the things he has done but really not enough to buy any records with him.
But I said ok, I'll go with you.
I don't regret it for a moment. I've been to several concerts and this was one of the best I've been. to! Not so much the music but for the way it was delivered. Much playfulness on the stage and you could see how fun they had on stage, and that rubbed off to the crowd (65000). 3 hours of sheer fun on a perfect summer evening.
My opinion on his music hasn't change, but I respect his work more after the concert. (He still can't play the harmonica though...)

I totally get that! I saw Huey Lewis and the News twice because their show was so good! I am not a big concert person - too many people which freaks me out.

Story Time!
A friend of mine was sitting in with a really popular band in Portland at the time (early 90’s). This band was 7 piece, with a real horn section. The bass player also played in another band that was getting radio play at the time. As a 5 string bass player (which was uncommon at the time), I was mesmerized by how good the bass player was (also played 5 string). Anyway - they played the song ā€œmy old schoolā€ which feature the amazing Skunk Baxter on guitar on the original. I had heard the song 1,000 times I am sure, but never really listened to it as a musician. Anyway, they perform the song, and my good friend was playing guitar and he absolutely nails it! OMG! He is super good, and really humble about his skills, but he gets every nuance perfect! And with the live horns there, also perfect… I can still feel the excitement and energy of that performance 30 years later. I have become a big Steely Dan fan since then because of that one live performance performed by an awesome band of professionals. Prior to that night, I had a big chip on my shoulder about Steely Dan because they have a lyric about Oregon in one of their songs, and they pronounced it like an idiot who clearly had never been there... which pissed me off. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So I guess it would also be accurate to say that one performance of that song also taught me about forgiveness for a simple mistake too. What a beautiful gift I received that night, all those years ago. 🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰

For some reason, a movie ruined that band for me šŸ˜‹
They were kind of my heroes because they were all a little older, all accomplished musicians on their own, having performed for years. All those things I considered to be like the ā€future meā€ (which did become true). But they were able to come together and do something extraordinary that was different, but also brilliantly predictable at the same time. They had a goal to be a hot band, and they achieved that in spades for a while. They never lost their talent, but the world decided they wanted a different new sound. That is the problem with being too hip and ā€œthe latest thingā€.
