I tried a director level position, and failed miserably. I do not have the right skills or mindset for that crap. I’m much better at a supervisor level.To be fair, we've got some GREAT people and I have no problem doing their review.
I love telling them, "WOW! You're doing great! So glad to have you" and helping get them good raises.
And when I did do full reviews myself, I really enjoyed meeting with them for it. I would tell them what I saw as positives and get great feedback on what they needed to help them succeed.
There is a possibility I may end up with the "chair" job in the future. But I'm working hard to avoid it by threatening violence against the "higher ups"...(not too often, juuuuussssst often enough that it puts a little doubt in everyone's mind that "maybe he's not the best choice.")
