Apologies for flogging the proverbial dead horse (it's already dead, PETA, so no protests, please). I'm working on another story in my series describing actual events in my life and have come to the point of my anal defloration. Here's the challenge: I'm putting in several personal details that I think is important for readers to know to understand my other stories and future ones, so I don't want to turn away current readers. However {spoiler alert], my defloration took place during an enema party.

My initial impulse is to classify it as Fetish, with appropriate tags. The previous stories in the series have been in Transgender/Crossdresser and Gay Male. Should I put it in the Gay Male category with appropriate tags and a readers' warning at the beginning, or should I put it in what appears to be its logical category, Fetish?

Sometimes, it seems easier to write the story than to figure out where it goes.

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.

To be in the safe side, I'd say Fetish, rather than straight anal. You're into a bit of a niche, I'd have thought.

Fetish is going to likely be kinder to you than others, say anal. Not saying it will be kind, but you give yourself a longer runway there.

Gay's a maybe but I wouldn't. Gay isn't opposed to a bit of romance and an enema party doesn't scream Nicholas Sparks to me at first blush.

But truly only you know. Just stick with what the driving force is of the story.

GM is always dicey on Lit outside the category, and I'm hardly an expert on the GM category, but this sounds a bit edgy for the category to me. It doesn't sound all that out of the norm for Fetish, however. My first instinct is Fetish.

Thank you, everyone, for your input. I did a bit of additional research last night: I ran a search on stories in Fetish and Gay Male for the word "enema." Interestingly, none of the hits under Fetish involved all men. There were several under GM that did. Most of them had decent ratings. This surprised me, as it seemed counterintuitive.

Given that, I plan to submit it under GM, with an introduction letting the readers know of the content, so they won't be blindsided. I've tried to keep the details tame, as this is not about the enema party, but Soma's defloration, which took place at one. Since it's based on what actually happened to me, I want to stay true to the details as much as possible, but mainly as an entry into what's going on in Soma's mind.

Again, thank you for your insights and suggestions.

I finally published it under Gay Male and am pleasantly surprised by the reception so far. Looking at how my stories published under Fetish and BDSM have been received, I think I'm going to stay in GM and T/C for now, as those other categories don't seem quite as welcoming to m/m stories.

It's going to be interesting to see how my F/m BDSM stories fare when I start on them next month. They're based on my actual experiences, so they'll be accurate, but they will not involve romance, and the MC is not going to be on the receiving end of many orgasms; his satisfaction will come in being the recipient of the pain his Mistress inflicts on him. The reactions should be interesting...

You're doing the right thing. Gay male is a strong trump when any gay content is involved. My only suggestion is; try to make the enema scene to be fun and perhaps not too graphic as to be disgusting. l love and applaud the detailing of what's going on in Soma's mind — that's where the good stuff comes to life.

You can take a look and see if I handled it properly. I tried to keep the descriptions adequate without being graphic. As you said, the important part of the story is in Soma's mind.
