Did I do something wrong?

For several days I got the message "You've been banned" when I tried to sign in to forums or to check my email.

I have no clue as to whether I did something wrong, or if it was a tech glitch.

This evening I am able to see the forums, and to see my email - there are no messages in my email about a reason to be banned or unbaned.

If I did something wrong, I'd like to know what the error was so that I don't repeat it.

I do not see you in the Ban Log. Unless you have a different handle in chatrooms compared to the forums.
I know some people were having issues awhile ago, i am not sure what it was or how it was fixed though - you might want to read the lit tech support threads to see ifyou can find the discussion.

I've read through several of the tech support threads and saw several where there were reasons discussed for a ban. I know of no reason for a ban. I have only one handle.

Note: there is no such thing as a ban log for the forums. I think this issue was related to accessing the forums, not chat based on his other posts.

Also, do chat users get a notice saying their account has been banned? I know forum users do. It does seem like it would clear up a lot of confusion for chat users if they would get notified of the ban. Based on the posts here it seems like they get a notice to try again later, which isn’t particularly helpful.

Maybe a temporary time out? The only ones that would know are Laurel and Manu. You can try to send them messages, but both are notorious for not responding.

Only my impression as a non-mod, but kids and dogs, even jokingly or as a passing reference is a recipe for the exit door.

I'm kind of surprised you account wasn't totally wiped clean as many have been.

@jaF0 is probably right. This thread is problematic. Whatever was in that photo was clearly missed in 2019, but when the thread got bumped it drew attention. Any sexual references to children or animals result in bans.

Okay… I see now how my commenting on that pic could result in me becoming collateral damage.
I appreciate the fact you guys have helped me learn from that lesson. Without your help I never would have connected the dots to understand what happened.

And I appreciate whoever it was that granted a reprieve.
