The BidenGood Thread

Yep...a few months ago, you expected a landslide.

Good luck with your expectations.
No. I’ve been (and remain) confident about the House, uncertain about the Senate. Trump’s Senate endorsements have not been helpful.

adore that image, for all its messages

but what is it with the chubby pubs and too short jacket sleeves? for all his wealth, desantis looks like a sausage stuffed into a skin two sizes too small compared to the cut of President Biden's jacket. Is it that they have the shoulders too wide to 'cut a manly gib' that results in the short sleeve look? or is it they want to make their pudgy little paws look bigger?

whatever... the real takeaway from the photo is how it illustrates President Biden's ability to connect with people because he genuinely cares, and that sticks in desantis' craw like a shit sandwich.

Biden To Release 15 Million Barrels From Oil Reserve In Effort To Reduce Gas Prices

The president will also open the door to additional releases this winter in an effort to bring gasoline prices down.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden will announce the release of 15 million barrels of oil from the U.S. strategic reserve Wednesday as part of a response to recent production cuts announced by OPEC+ nations, and he will say more oil sales are possible this winter, as his administration rushes to be seen as pulling out all the stops ahead of next month’s midterm elections.
Biden will deliver remarks Wednesday to announce the drawdown from the strategic reserve, senior administration officials said Tuesday on the condition of anonymity to outline Biden’s plans. It completes the release of 180 million barrels over six months authorized by Biden in March. That has sent the strategic reserve to its lowest level since 1984 in what the president called a “bridge” until domestic production could be increased. The reserve now contains roughly 400 million barrels of oil.

Biden will also open the door to additional releases this winter in an effort to bring prices down, but administration officials would not detail how much the president would be willing to tap and the conditions under which he would do so.
Biden will also say that the U.S. government will restock the strategic reserve when oil prices are at or lower than $67 to $72 a barrel, an offer that administration officials argue will increase domestic production by guaranteeing a baseline level of demand even if prices fall. Yet the president is also expected to renew his criticism of the profits reaped by oil companies — repeating a bet made this summer that public condemnation would matter more to these companies than shareholders’ focus on returns.

It marks the continuation of an about-face by Biden, who has tried to move the U.S. past fossil fuels to identify additional sources of energy to satisfy U.S. and global supply as a result of disruptions from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and production cuts announced by the Saudi Arabia-led oil cartel.

Biden To Release 15 Million Barrels From Oil Reserve In Effort To Reduce Gas Prices

Yep. Lowest level in nearly 40 years, just two weeks after his grim cocktail party warning about the risk of Armageddon. And he plans to replenish SPR when oil falls to $72/barrel. In 2020, President Trump wanted to top off the SPR with oil at $24. Dems blocked him: 'Bailout for Big Oil!” Let’s Go Brandon!

In March of 2020 the SPR held 635 million barrels total. Trump wished to purchase 77 million more barrels, if he could get funding to top off the SPR to the max. Strange, during a period of low demand, and a pandemic at hand, others felt the money could be spent on more important items.

Given the outlook at that point in time, it would have been a needless expense of non budgeted monies.

Would it have made a difference to the current world oil pricing, doubtful considering Russia can produce 12 million barrels day. So 77 million would have bought Biden 6 extra days.....

And here we are today. Draining the SPR to its lowest level since 1984 for a non-strategic purpose and will replace it at $72 at some unknown point in the future. Let’s hope Brandon’s Armageddon scenario doesn’t come true in the meantime.

The President in 1984 sure didn’t seem to care.

The President in 1984 sure didn’t seem to care.
When President Reagan took office in January, 1985, the SPR had 113.5 million barrels. It increased every year during his 8 years in office. It was 561.5 million when he left office.

So whats your point? You would have save 75% of the cost on the 77 million, if Trump had filled it back in 2020. Sure a 75% savings is good, but it only reflects less than 12% of the total amount held in the SPR.

You'd have made a far better point if you stated Biden shouldn't bother trying to influence world oil prices by using the SPR in the first place. That at least is a valid point to debate.
Let’s hope Brandon’s Armageddon scenario doesn’t come true in the meantime.
Shit happens, and there is very little you or I can do about it now.
