The Fifth Amendment exists in order to prevent criminal suspects from being tortured or beaten in order to confess. A person being tortured will say anything to stop the torture. Until two or three generations ago the police would sometimes beat confessions out of suspects. As a result, many innocent people were punished for crimes they did not commit.

If I was arrested under suspicious circumstances for a crime I did not commit I would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, whether I was under oath or not. I would want for what I said to be recorded.

The U.S. government tried for fifteen months to get all of the material Donald Trump illegally stole from the United States and was holding back, and he didn't comply. They knew he had it; they knew it didn't belong to him; they knew much of it was classified; they know he is an espionage asset of the Russians. I see what you mean; the judge ruled there is/are Criminal aspects/overlays to Mister T’s civil matters due to the things under investigation at Trump Org.

Makes sense for him to be able to plead the 5th under these circumstances without negative legal inference.

If the justice department doesn’t do their due diligence then it’s a disservice to the American people. Sussmann was tried in a DC court with a jury biased towards Hillary and an activist judge who would not allow evidence implicating Hillary which was the thrust of Durhams case, Sussmann walked. Playing the system doesn’t equate to justice
