What about Mexican Hot Cocoa? Is that an authentic Mexican beverage or an American bastardization?
I can get it as a just add water (or hot milk) dry mix just like hot cocoa powder, but I also have some (what I was told was) Mexican hot cocoa that are hard pressed *I think* powder cakes to disolve into hot water or hot milk. (The ones I have are just wrapped in wax paper and have no labelling on them).
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, I would describe it as hot chocolate with cinnamon and a hit of fiery spice in its flavor profile.
