I saw a writing contest sponsored by the U.S. Naval Institute and had a warped and (to me) amusing thought.

The USNI's writing contest is a 3000 word fiction piece relevant to the future of naval conflict, intended for publication in a serious scholarly sort of way.
Not at all the place for erotica.

But.... (and hear me out)
A second story for Literotica, paired with the first.

So, a serious bit of fiction exploring, for example, a single ship with near sci-fi weapons and capabilities facing off against superior numbers of conventional ships, and how the captains and their crews think about it. Then, a piece for Literotica about how the skipper gets pegged by his off-duty helmsman, or how a couple of gunnersmates keep getting THIS close when general quarters sounds.
Same ships & crews in both stories, completely different spins on the stories.

It would be interesting to do (and some scenes in my mainstream works become erotica stories by pushing the hookup. Similarly, I have separate nonerotic, hetero, homosexual, and bi versions of some of my stories), but, for Literotica, I don't think many would look for the other half of the pair or would react all that well to the nonerotic version.

Well. Shit.

I'll enter. 3k words is going to be a challenge, but brevity is the soul of wit.

As for a spicy version? Well... this might end up being sort of a take-off on some of my SF stories.

I have been thinking long & hard about the USNI contest. I feel like something where an advanced fleet opposes a second rate fleet supplemented by another global power or coalition and the ingenuity of their citizens has potential (okay, a maritime version of Ukraine, but either Baltic Sea or South China Sea, possibly northwest Indian Ocean).

For the complimentary Literotica story, two ideas.
A wildly inappropriate relationship between an admiral and his flag secretary (like aide de camp), with the junior officer wielding the cat'o'nine tails.
Or...
Something like a spy romance between the flagship's XO and an officer with ties to the opposing force.

Yeah, I have a novel perspective. I was an Army officer and I have worked with the Navy a bit and attended Naval War College.

I went much simpler. Lol.

What if dirigible development had not stopped?
