Liz '24?

A centrist party with enough seats in the house and senate to prevent either legacy party from full control…. You’d get shit done.
It would hurt for years but I think it would eventually turn into a strong party for us who are disillusioned and disappointed with the current state of affairs. But I'm far from someone who studies politics. Do however like reading the opinions and thoughts here.

If Trump somehow got the GOP nomination, I would not be surprised if Cheney ran as a third candidate. That would be the GOP nightmare of my dreams. :)
Although she’s reliably conservative, she has no base among Republicans. She’s far more popular among Democrats these days. If Biden were to be the nominee, she’d pull a lot of Democratic votes from him.

Trump getting the nomination alone (which he only wants to do because he thinks he's safe from prosecution while a sitting president) is enough of the GOP living a nightmare for me. Where the concentration needs to be, I think, is to throw every possible Republican out in elections for Senate, House, Governor, and down the list of state jobs. Toss them all out.

I wouldn't vote for her, but she's a strong conservative who has also demonstrated strong support and defense of democracy. If I was a conservative, she'd be on my list to support.
That'd be a pretty short list. Most of that party has lost their GD minds.

I want two dime bags of whatever you're smokin'.

Cheney voted against a bill to protect democracy from GOP racism and extremism.
Last month, every Republican voted no on the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Named for the late Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death in 1965 while marching in Selma, Ala., for voting rights, the bill seeks to fully restore critical sections of the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013.

Liz Cheney praised the Supreme Court for striking down Roe v. Wade

The Wyoming Republican celebrated the Supreme Court’s ruling striking down Roe v. Wade, saying she has "always been strongly pro-life," and praising the Court's decision to return powers over abortion laws to states.

Liz Cheney is not some moderate maverick Republican who is breaking with her party on policy. She is a right-wing warmonger whose crude attacks on people of color, immigrants, Muslims, and progressives carry the same venom as those of the most extreme members of her caucus—and of the 45th president, whose election in 2016 and reelection in 2020 she enthusiastically supported.

As for Cheney herself, she has called Democrats “the party of anti-Semitism, the party of infanticide, the party of socialism”—hardly the stuff of a good-faith oppositionist with whom Democrats can cooperate on matters of larger concern to the country.

I never said she was an ally of Democrats. I was stating that she was a strong conservative who is defending democracy by calling out those who wish to overturn a fair election.

Last time I checked voting and abortion rights are a big part of "democracy".

So are elections.
What good are elections if you're not allowed to vote?

Democracy is like fidelity in marriage. Either you're for it all day, every day or you're a lying fucking whore with no respect for your spouse, your marriage, or yourself.

I get it. You don't agree with my point.👍
I'm just curious how much energy you will put into praising a war mongering, anti-abortion, torture and war crime apologist who voted for Trump twice as some sort of savior of democracy.

Good luck with your curiosity. I haven't praised her at all. Just entertained at the train wreck of Republicans who prefer allegiance.over policy.
