January 6th Prosecution vs. Trump - Loving Updates

The board Trumpettes were born to lie.
I think that they have learned that lying and believing in lies gains them political power. It’s sadly only temporary and those chickens will be roosting very soon.

today's committee hearing is at 2pm CT

next one scheduled for june 28th, i think

a scorned mo brooks has announced he WILL testify for the committee if issued a subpoena... the committee had one ready before but didn't serve it as brooks was on the campaign trail; they have a use by date.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, who chairs the January 6 panel, told CNN that Brooks hadn't yet been served with a subpoena. Thompson, however, said the subpoena had been "redone."

"So we are in the process of either redoing it or it's out the door already," Thompson told CNN on Wednesday.
Before the loss, Brooks slammed Trump as having "no loyalty to anyone or anything but himself." Following his failed Senate bid, Brooks also said the "bad guys won" and accused Trump of not doing anything unless it "enhances his wallet or ego."

Brooks' changed opinion on Trump came just a week after he sent out a public appeal to his supporters to try to get Trump to re-endorse him. Trump ultimately endorsed Britt instead.

of course, brooks is making all sorts of demands, but something tells me he's just itching to get his face in the spotlight and cause trump some damage in the process. plus the investigative team and panel are way way smarter than brooks. He clearly hopes to promote himself and his beliefs but you know they'll have him reveal what it is they need the public to hear.

lol, team trump claims the trumps had "editorial control"

Holder says nope, full stop.

Russell Smith, Holder's lawyer, affirmed that those interviewed for the film were not promised any "editorial control" over the final production.

"The Trumps did not request, and were not granted, any editorial control over the series. To the contrary, Alex Holder said at the outset that he would have full editorial control. The Trumps also did not request any contractual right of control, or even review, so there is none,"

Federal investigators on Wednesday searched the Virginia home of Jeffrey Clark, the former Justice Department official who pushed the department, at former President Trump’s request, to get involved in efforts to challenge the 2020 election results.
Trump tried to install Clark as attorney general in the days before the Jan. 6 insurrection when top Justice Department officials refused to lend credibility to his false voter fraud claims by holding press conferences and joining lawsuits brought by his campaign or supporters. Clark pushed agency leaders to issue a letter to states stating that they had authority to replace electors with those who would back Trump.

Justice Department leaders and the members of the White House counsel's office threatened to resign en masse if Trump made the change.

Of course you don't have anything useful for relevant to post about this. Your stupidity and venality led you to back the worst horse.

The Select Committee Soap Opera is a bit of a non-event, in my view.
- everyone already knows trump’s a crook
- a sel cmte without full bipartisan underpinnings/power is a show trial
- whatever they determine wont be final

So, its the flip side of the bhengazi nonsense

Lastly, butters is a cow, not a horse.

names of 6 individuals who sought personal pardons included gaetz, brooks, mtg, gohmert, scott perry (R.Pa) and biggs. the possibility of blanket pardons was also raised, to cover ANYONE involved up till and after the attempted overthrow. gym jordan apparently didn't ask outright but did 'inquire' as to how the blanket pardons thing was coming along.

Additionally, Hutchinson said “Gaetz was personally pushing for a pardon, and he was doing so since early December,” but said she did not know why.
And she said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a fierce defender of Trump, “talked about congressional pardons, but he never asked me for one,” noting that he was largely inquiring about whether or not the White House was going to grant the lawmaker pardons.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a member of the panel who played an elevated role in Thursday’s proceedings, presented an email from Brooks, dated Jan. 11, 2021, in which the congressman asked for presidential pardons for himself, Gaetz, and lawmakers who objected to the Electoral College vote for Arizona and Pennsylvania.
“President Trump asked me to send you this letter. This letter is also pursuant to a request from Matt Gaetz,” the email reads.

“As such, I recommend that President give general (all purpose) pardons to the following groups of people:,” the email adds. “Every Congressman and Senator who voted to reject the electoral vote submission of Arizona and Pennsylvania.”

if there's one thing these hearings have done, it's given me a new appreciation of and respect for some of the people in important positions during the trump presidency. While i hate it took so long for their stories to be fully known, it's both refreshing and reassuring that these men stood up for what was right against someone who had all the power in the world to make their lives really difficult.

Nothing will happen even if it ever gets to court.
I don’t think it will swing enough moderate repub votes to make a difference in the mids and will deflate dem turnout

And when they dont drive a stake through trump’s heart, well, that’ll be 3 strikes…. It will seal biden’s fate as a 1 term pres.

ron johnson over slate of fake electors texts: wasn't me, it was kelly

The House select committee presented text messages between Johnson's chief of staff, Sean Riley, and Pence aide David Hodgson offering to have the senator hand deliver documents signed by unlawful electors from Michigan and Wisconsin, and the GOP senator said on Thursday that those documents came from Rep. Mike Kelly's (R-PA) office.

says they came from kelly, but that's not resolving the issue of his staffer saying johnson wanted it passed to pence.

In a statement Thursday, Mr. Kelly’s office categorically denied the accusations.

“Senator Johnson’s statements about Representative Kelly are patently false. Mr. Kelly has not spoken to Sen. Johnson for the better part of a decade, and he has no knowledge of the claims Mr. Johnson is making related to the 2020 election,” the statement said.

In the interview, Mr. Johnson called his involvement “so minimal.”

“I really had no recollection of any specifics whatsoever, OK,” he said, saying the committee’s findings are a “nothing burger.”

Too many fellow countrymen consider these public servants to be The Deep State.

I have it on good authority that Merrick Garland will get right on this as soon as he's back from his birdwatching trip to the Minnesota boundary waters.

more kelly v johnson, this time somehow trump's involved (ya don't say)

After first denying everything, and then blaming kelly, saying in an interview today on WIBA-AM that:
he had since discovered the documents came from Pennsylvania U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, and acknowledged he coordinated with Dane County attorney Jim Troupis and his chief of staff by text message that morning to get to Pence a document Troupis described as regarding "Wisconsin electors."

Kelly's office immediately pushed back on Johnson's claim, saying: "Senator Johnson's statements about Representative Kelly are patently false."
"Mr. Kelly has not spoken to Sen. Johnson for the better part of a decade, and he has no knowledge of the claims Mr. Johnson is making related to the 2020 election."
On Thursday, Johnson said Troupis contacted him by text message on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, to get a document on "Wisconsin electors" to Pence.
Johnson said he then introduced the attorney to his chief of staff by text message to handle the request. He said he did not know what the document was or intended to accomplish.
johnson shared a report by (conservative reporter) john solomon that:
Kelly also called Troupis to get elector documents to Pence that morning through Johnson.
Troupis, a Dane County attorney who represented Trump in recounts of the liberal Dane and Milwaukee counties and sought to throw out tens of thousands of ballots to overturn Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election, did not immediately respond to an email from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel seeking comment.
In the recounting of events by Solomon, a Trump campaign official asked Kelly to get an "alternate slate" of electors to Pence. Kelly then called Troupis, who then texted Johnson, according to the story.
