Let's talk about guns, shootings, solutions and idiotic suggestions

Already posted on this. It's the weapon of choice for mass casualties killers. For a reason (hint, it was made for the military)

Don't like the gun control suggestion, don't lobby for it. Problem solved
Handguns are the most common weapon type used in mass shootings in the United States, with a total of 146 different handguns being used in 98 incidents between 1982 and May 2022. These figures are calculated from a total of 128 reported cases over this period, meaning handguns are involved in about 77 percent of mass shootings.

It was a military weapon converted into a consumer weapon.

No, it was a civilian weapon no matter what it might have been based on.

What you are stating is true for every weapon made, historical or modern;
military practicality has led in all of their development
and that includes muskets.

I said mass shooters. People who intend to shoot multiple people ....not people who shoot multiple people by crossfire that were not intended.

And maybe try the last 20 years for a more current view

Yeah, the people with handguns also intended to shoot people.

Now you have to parse and qualify to try and jerk the conversation back the the faux facts you relish the most.

I already made my suggestion. You're the one needing to qualify it.

I already did.

You said something demonstrably false and I pointed it out.

Aah yes, I provided source material and you said I was wrong. Got it

As I said, don't like it, don't lobby for it. Doesn't matter to me.

Including the revolvers of the 1870s...

Moronic statement.

Any weapon that can fire a second round without a manual action is a fully automatic weapon and requires a special permit.

"... An unidentified woman in Charleston, West Virginia, also had skin in the game (her own) when she drew a concealed pistol and put down a manwho opened fire on a crowd a day after the Uvalde massacre, preventing the death of anybody other than the attacker. Most officers don't have personal stakes in the incidents to which they respond, and it's asking a lot to expect them to put their lives on the line for strangers. They don't even have a legal obligation to protect us.

"'Nothing in the language of the Due Process Clause itself requires the State to protect the life, liberty, and property of its citizens against invasion by private actors,' then-Chief Justice William Rehnquist wrote for the majority in DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services (1989).

"So, we'd be foolish to surrender our right to defend ourselves and our loved ones, as many politicians demand, in hope that public employees with no stake in the situation and families waiting at home will take up the slack. No law or hollow promise relying on the limitations of human beings in public sector jobs can replace the attachments we have to our children, spouses, friends, and our own lives."

Love Letter to the Libs:

"After the smoke cleared [from the Floyd riots], the city in question put up signs apologizing to the psychopaths and letting them know they had been “heard.” And of course, promising to do better. The city actually apologized to the people who were shooting up the place. When taken into account with the mounting body counts in Chicago and other blue cities, one thing is clear. American society promotes dysfunction and violence when it can be used to certain ends. Your movies, your video games, your porn, your utter disregard for the sanctity and dignity of human life, and your love of chaos all led to Uvalde, and will lead to still more. Our children prostitute themselves on TikTok and turn their precious bodies and lives into commodities. You embrace social media to demean and sexualize people and you reduce humanity to chattel. You encourage young people to mutilate themselves and glorify and promote mental illness rather than helping young people find relief. You encourage violence and destruction only to decry it to meet your needs. You defund the police and excuse lawlessness. You sanction bloodshed and murder when it is convenient. In fact, you seem to be quite enamored of it. You are manipulating bodies and souls. Not content with selling your own souls, you must mortgage those of our children."

Great grievance porn there.

The "moral decay" angle is trendy

You really could use an upgrade to your catchphrase...

At this point, it's gotten stale.

When and where have I ever employed the phrase grievance porn?

That's just you...

It fits so I use it. I don't use it for your benefit and certainly wouldn't use it if you had anything different to do but whine.

I'll use the words I want, when I want. Sorry about your feels.

The premise of the thread begins with pushing a morality that's flavored with the same unpalatable falsities your competitors spew in regards to abortion. The basis of that flaw is solidly rooted in a misunderstanding or misapplication of the difference between effects and affects.

One is a thing, the other is an act.

You want to ban a thing because of someone's act.

Since Republicans are saying it’s not the guns it’s the mental health of the shooter and point to all the missed signs and opportunities to intervene, surely we’ll see them sponsor much legislation and funding for programs and systems to be implemented so future “thoughts and prayers” won’t be necessary. Right?
Why wait? Why don't the Democrats get the jump of the Republicans and do it first?

So the issue isn’t the Second Amendment, it’s the First Amendment.

You’ll be demanding Thought Police next.

Yeah, the people with handguns also intended to shoot people.
But if you limit to a six shot revolver, which would satisfy the Second, they could only fire six rounds and maybe hit six people. They could not fire hundreds of rounds in a short period and hit dozens.

^ someone has no fucking clue what can be done with a revolver...

Those guns didn't do anything, obviously

Nothing can be done.
Yeah, you keep hammering that nail. I'm sure that eventually someone will come along and help you find your mommy again.
