That's why I said that a "Disinformation governance board" should either be non-partisan, independant, or at worst, bi-partisan with equal representation from both parties.

So one party CAN'T go all George Orwell and be the last word on what is true and what is not. A disinformation governance board should not be appointed by the president, in other words- even if that president is a Republican (Sorry youcanthelp1 and GothTalk)

Because, One thing I see here (and find so frustrating) is that some people are perfectly okay with the previous Republican administration lying and manipulating the truth, and refuse to accept the truth when independent non-partisan organizations call them out on it.
But if a Democratic administration does it- oh no, this is "orwellian" and wrong! There should not be a double standard where we blindly accept one political party's version of the truth, even when their lies are debunked, but cannot accept anything the other party says as true (until it is debunked.)

That's at best half true. The reality is the average person doesn't know certain things. I'll use the most current one that we should be able to agree on. Telling people the vaccines don't work is dangerous and has stretched what should have been a managable situation into one million and counting dead. I don't wish Michelle Bachman dies but she's currently refusing to show up on camera because she's got the Covid.

They should not shut down people. That's a no no, but there should be a system in place to educate people.
