January 6th Prosecution vs. Trump - Loving Updates

From the Washington Post today:

“The House Jan. 6 committee has tried to recruit high-profile journalists to write its report about the attack on the Capitol, hoping to build a narrative thriller that compels audiences and is a departure from government reports of yore.”

“Their challenge: Making the public care deeply — and read hundreds of pages more — about an event that happened more than a year ago, and that many Americans feel they already understand.”

“They’ll attempt to do so this spring through public hearings, along with a potential interim report and a final report that will be published ahead of the November midterms — with the findings likely a key part of the Democrats midterm strategy. They hope their recommendations to prevent another insurrection will be adopted, but also that their work will repel voters from Republicans who they say helped propel the attack.

“Democrats are widely expected to have a tough time in the upcoming midterm elections, with even some Democrats privately fearing a bloodbath.”

Refreshing to see them admit the obvious. The 1/6 Committee is politicizing their work. Good luck with that! 😂😂😂😂😂

They just need to schedule public hearings and bring in their witnesses.

The story they have will easily be shown to the public without media assistance

I'm not arguing for the legal aspect....I'm arguing for the political one
Nice to see folks on this board acknowledging the politics. Per the Post, the committee is looking for a journalist to craft a narrative that will boost the election chances. My recommendations are Paul Krugman, Robert Riech, or Keith Olberman. Or perhaps Chris Cuomo.

Not Dan Rather?

I acknowledge the politics. I also acknowledge there is more than politics here.

Nah, pick somebody from The Nation or Mother Jones. Because they have credibility.

Couy Griffin, Republican county commissioner, founder of Cowboys for Trump, and personal friend of Marjorie Taylor Greene, was found guilty Tuesday of entering a restricted area on 1/6/21.

He arrived at the courthouse in a truck towing a horse trailer.

The messages, which do not directly reference Justice Thomas or the Supreme Court, show for the first time how Ginni Thomas used her access to Trump's inner circle to encourage and seek to guide the president's strategy to overturn the election results — and how receptive and grateful Meadows said he was to receive her advice. Among Thomas' stated goals in the messages was for lawyer Sidney Powell, who promoted incendiary and unsupported claims about the election, to become "the lead and the face" of Trump's legal team.
The messages were among the 2,320 text messages that Meadows provided the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The existence of messages between Thomas and Meadows – 21 sent by her; eight by him – have not previously been reported and were reviewed by CBS News and The Post. They were then confirmed by five people who have seen the committee's documents.
text messages between ginni thomas and meadows about resolving to overturn 2020 election results

if clarence thomas doesn't take this as a good time to bow out 'for health reasons' then he's dumb

If trump is ever allowed to run for office again that Committie was worthless.
Sorry, there will be a whole lot of folks to blame for that before getting around to fingering the January 6th committee.

She appeared voluntarily, answered questions, did not assert any privileges or invoke 5th Amendment, and according to one Democrat on the committee was very helpful. Go figure.

Well, the Democrats were morons for nominating Hillary, for the very reason many people can't stand her. That said, though, Comey basically lost the election for her, when that idiot a month before the election announced a 'new' investigation of the email stuff (that mysteriously, after the election, was found out to contain nothing, zip, zlich). Hillary thought she was annointed, and in reality she beat Trump by like 3 million votes, but because our system gives undue power to morons (I am sure John Adams and Hamilton are rolling over in their graves by the state of this country, that has put a white trash minority in power). If it wasn't for that Trump very well might have lost, he didn't win by all that much in the EC either, I think it was lke 100,000 votes in a couple of states.

Comey should be remembered as a moron who deserves nothing but scorn.

As far as the Trump campaign and Russia goes, remember that Muller found there was obstruction of Justice in terms of the Russia investigation. If so, that raises the very legitimate question , if Trump and his campaign were not guilty of working with the Russians, why did they bother obstructing justice? And I would bet if Garland was such a going doody in his depends kind of person by now they would have found direct evidence, it can't be hard. Trump's ties to Russia are well known, and he is still praising Putin.

The 1/6 Committee is digging into connections between the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys and the organizers of Trump’s Ellipse rally.

https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/08/capitol-attack-january-6-proud-boys-oath-keepers

The panel has amassed deep evidence about the connections between the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys in recent weeks after it obtained hours of non-public footage of the leaders of the militia groups in Washington ahead of the Capitol attack, the sources said.

Most crucially for the panel, it could form part of the evidence to connect the militia groups that stormed the Capitol on 6 January to the organizers of the Save America rally that immediately preceded the attack – who in turn are slowly being linked to the Trump White House.
