So four days ago I got an email that my account was accessed from over 500 miles away. I informed lit that it wasn't me. I changed my password. It happened again tonight, and from yet another IP address.

I know this is the authors forum, but has this happened to anyone else? And if so, how did you handle the situation?

What you are getting is spam. They want you to click on the link in the email, which I hope you didn't, to change your password. If you didn't they will probably keep sending that email to you until you do. DON"T. Just mark it as spam.

It’s a well meaning, but worthy of improvement warning.

I’ll bet you use lit on your phone. You went somewhere, either used a different WiFi or flipped from your home WiFi to your wireless providers internet. (Which would be wherever your wireless connects itself to the internet at large. For example much of the time my phone’s wireless shows Miami, but sometimes kansas. I’m not in either of those places.

This doesn’t mean don’t pay attention if the warning happens. But it’s probably you being mobile.

if you click “cancel session” and your phone’s lit session ends up logged out, that’s what happened.

Ideally, if the warning showed your session identifier, and you could compare it by checking lit, the warning would be better.

I had bank account hacked years ago, and thousands of dollars of transactions were made without my knowledge. Fortunately, we go the money back, but it was very disquieting.
