I've been watching some dude (English or New Zealander or something) traveling through Nigeria on YouTube.

I would say I would rather live in the North than in the Lagos area. I'm sure it depends on how much money you have and other factors. Still the sewage in the lagoon is a major deciding factor for me.

Honestly, I want to visit Africa after watching these videos. Seems fascinating. Despite what many on here may claim I din't "hate black people" or anyone else. Thats lying slander from RoryN.

In the UK, many water companies are illegally dumping sewage in the rivers and seas, far more than their declared 'emergency' discharges.

If you swim anywhere in the UK you are likely to be swimming in sewage.

Newquay was popular due to its crystal clear sea water, fistral beach home to surfers.. BUT go round the headland to the old lifeboat station and watch raw sewage flow into the sea, very inspiring for a dip.

blackpool has sea water like shit, possibly due to fine sand suspensions (and sewage) .

water is best avoided.

visited Blackpool sands in Devon once for family tree reasons, water looked much better than blackpool lancs.

This kind of thing could happen more and more in developed countries, if certain political figures get their way and start widespread de-regulation of, and removal of, environmental protections. Like for example the previous leader of the U.S., who oddly enough, the original poster passionately supports.

Never mind swimming in sewage, how about being forced to DRINK it, if companies are now allowed to dump raw sewage into rivers and water tables. This is exactly what some politicians think should be allowed.

This happens in the USA all the time. Treatment plants "accidently" discharge sewage into lakes, rivers, streams and in California, it happens almost daily as they have to shut the beaches down due to the raw sewage.

Our local water company has been fined £90 million for thousands of illegal discharges over a period of five years. that is on top of the thousands of 'legal' emergency discharges.

Almost every week they have a 'legal' discharge, but the company had (and seems still to have) a policy of 'if no one notices - we'll carry on illegally polluting seas and rivers'.

...and yet, some Americans seem to WANT this.

They will happily elect people who say "I am going to remove restrictions on corporations dumping sewage, pollutants, etc. into the air and water, and then cut down on enforcement of pollution laws." To which voters, such as (he who started this thread) say "Yaay! Anti-pollution laws are SOCIALISM! I'm voting for THIS guy."
