The focus on "superior qualifications" is silly. It's not like there is an objective way to measure that. There have always been criteria that go into Court nominations other than the nonexistent standard of "the best qualified."

Anyway, the people who thought a game show host ought to be president might want to keep quiet about the importance of qualifications.

The thing it even that isn't really objective. A court of law should not be a game where you count the score for the judge. I can at least justify lawyers caring about their score. Even if you end up being someone who knows you got a murderer off on a serious technicality or you knew the defendant was either innocent or you know the punishment won't fit the crime.

Biden has continually stressed judicial credentials and, although the OP couldn't possibly grasp it, there are a good dozen black women with far, FAR! better credentials for the job than Trump's last two picks have been. Several of the possibilities not only have the credentials, they've already been vetted. Like Trump did the last time, Biden could name a choice within a week, but he's now saying it will be near the end of February before he does so. Given they are women and black (not much different in setting parameters from "they'll overturn RvW, which was Trump's principle credential requirement), Biden's actually taking his sweet old time in going over more than skin color.

The theory that by focusing on skin color that we lose any quality of candidate is bullshit.

By taking a list of qualified candidates, there will always be candidates of multiple perspectives, religions, races, genders...etc The practice of focusing on white men for candidates has been the issue.

I think there have been several rulings in recent times affecting women and women of color specifically that would benefit from a voice of that perspective on the bench.
