What ever happened to Spider Robinson?

He hasn't even done any sequels to Variable Star.

Robinson posted a note on his website in 2009 noting that his agent had sold a trilogy of sequels based on the novel and its characters.

One of the most interesting things he's ever done, in that it is based on an outline left by Heinlein, and the book shows clear efforts to imitate Heinlein's style and themes.

Spider and I have a mutual friend ( another author), so I’ve met him the odd time and have been generally aware of his life in Canada.

Cool guy, mellow, thoughtful.

This multiple Hugo Award winner apparently has not published anything since 2008.

Can't find anything more recent than that on his website, either.

Is relocation to Canada really as demoralizing as that?!

Well, his first story was published in 1972. He moved to Canada a year later and has lived there every since. In other words, virtually all his work was done ‘post-relocation’. He’s 73 years old, has had a heart attack and lost both his wife and daughter to cancer. I doubt it’s a maple leaf allergy responsible for him slowing down.

Great writer

I’ve been reading Robert A. Heinlein novels since I was a kid. I was thrilled to see a “new” Heinlein novel when Variable Star came out. I thought Spider did a fantastic job with the outline given to him. What a set of shoes to step into! What an honor to be asked! Reading that book was simultaneously like meeting a long lost old friend again, and meeting a new friend, too. Since then I’ve read other Spider Robinson books, and always enjoyed his talents. Thanks, Mr. Robinson, wherever you are, and may you be blessed with happiness and joy, just like you gave to us.

Perhaps the most interesting thing he wrote was the Deathkiller trilogy, beginning with Mindkiller. Mechanically assisted telepathy ultimately provides personal immortality in a global collective Mind! The Borg Collective as a good thing!

What ever happened to K oreo?

Had similar posting patterns, very few followers, lots of posts in a very short amount of time.

No life, no friends, no discernable future but kept posting until coming undone.

Mehbe should have left the keyboard, took a walk and reflected.

Life outside of lit?

Mehbe.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Spider? I can't seem to find a way on his website.
