A man in black bloc behaving suspiciously near a right-wing rally outside the Pinellas County Courthouse in Florida on Jan. 6 was apprehended by deputies after he tried fleeing on foot. Garrett James Smith, 22, was arrested and found carrying an active pipe bomb, Antifa propaganda and a written document on what to bring for his direct action. He had recently returned from Portland, Ore. "He was running fast, he was running away from something," Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said at a press conference on Friday.

More explosives, tape and nails were found at the home of Antifa bombing suspect Garrett Smith

Smith was purportedly targeting dozens of the attendees of a rally protesting the treatment of Jan. 6 suspects on the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Capitol riot.

A search of Smith's home he shares with his parents in Oldsmar, Fla. revealed more explosives, tape and nails for use in grenades. Smith’s “direct action” checklist included a drawing of an umbrella, a symbol adopted by Antifa militants for their frequent use of black umbrellas to shield one another from cameras while they commit acts of violence or vandalism. The helmet found in his backpack during his arrest had the Antifa “iron front” symbol painted on it.

You will also notice no one here is arguing he didn't deserve to be arrested and prosecuted.

We've reached the point where "Florida Man" seems like the name of a separate species, like Peking Man or Java Man.

It is at the point where "Man gets shot." That was probably LA or NY. Man found eating eye balls and testicles. That was Florida. If something happens out side those three locations the rest of us are really pissed someone thought they deserved some shine.

REAL SEATTLEITES don’t use umbrellas. It’s one of our foundational city myths, alongside the Seattle Freeze, bad fashion game, and coffee addiction. But Tuesday night, as thousands of protesters faced police in a tense Capitol Hill standoff, the front lines were awash in dozens of umbrellas—and not because it was raining.

For one, they are a sign that Seattleites marching against police brutality have turned an eye abroad. The bumbershoot tactic has roots in the Hong Kong Umbrella Movement of 2014 when tens of thousands of protesters, demanding open elections, used umbrellas to protect themselves from tear gas released by police. Among the modern protest tactics developed by Hong Kong youth, the yellow umbrella became especially symbolic.

Presented by Seattle Met

In Seattle, the iconic umbrella was bright pink. As crowds faced Seattle Police Department at the corner of Cal Anderson Park on Monday, only a few comers brought the accessory—including one in such a rosy magenta, you could spot it easily from nearby roofs. Language and posture had grown tense after 9pm when a police officer snatched the pink umbrella, starting a brief scuffle with its holder. Police deployed tear gas; flash bangs followed. Livestreamed to the world from on the ground and above, it appears that the exchange sparked the transformation from protest to chaos.

Tuesday night, the umbrellas multiplied. The front lines of the protest, thick against police barricades at Pine Street and 11th Avenue, were stacked half a dozen deep with domes of black, yellow, gray, and multicolor stripes. The crowds behind them held Black Lives Matter signs and chanted the names of police brutality victims, then demands like “Take off your riot gear/we don’t see no riot here.”

no mention here even of umbrellas, let alone black ones, as antifa symbols

Haven't you figured out by now, that most of the articles you post turn out to be wrong in some important way, and that the main reason for that is the sources you get them from?
