Florida Giving CRT the Hard Goodbye

It's only going to get worse in the schools. They are jettisonng the only objective measures they've had for admissions: Standardized tests. It's all going to be subjective now, all the better to achieve "equity." It's inevitable that the course work will soon be watered down to make sure the dullards they admit graduate normally.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – This week, Governor Ron DeSantis announced a legislative proposal that will eliminate the common-core based, end-of-year, high-stakes Florida Statewide Assessment and create the new Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.) plan, which will monitor student progress and foster individual growth. Educators, parents, education organizations and leaders from across the state applauded the announcement.

“The relevant point for now is that all white people are racist or complicit by virtue of benefiting from privileges that are not something they can voluntarily renounce.” From Being White, Being Good: White Complicity, White Moral Responsibility, and Social Justice Pedagogy, by Barbara Applebaum, p. 16.

"…a positive white identity is an impossible goal. White identity is inherently racist; white people do not exist outside the system of white supremacy.” From White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism, by Robin DiAngelo, p. 149.

It is a proven tenant of CRT. I've already posted the proof in the past. You can look it up by searching my posts.

That has nothing to do with my post and the burden of proof is on you anyway.

Try again?

Already done, Education majors. :)

How is this any improvement over common core?

You're either lying or can't read, twink. Which is it? I know you're slow on the uptake so I'll throw you a bone:

We were discussing what CRT holds as true. You added this bit about children's textbooks, a propos of nothing. There is no separate CRT for kids...it's all one big, dirty "theory." And that theory says exactly what RG said it does.

Que bemoans removing standardized tests and his buddy DeSantis is the one looking to take them away.

You do realize they're going to be testing more now, no?

And either way, these are not entry standardized tests, which was the subject, not routine progress teting.

Really? Which standardized tests will they be using?
Now you want to move the goal posts to entry standardized tests?

I'm sure you can back that up with a chapter from a CRT textbook being forced upon children in the classroom.

I asked very specific and you can't answer. You're such a coward. :)

What's a "propos"

Not moving anything, go back and read the thread. You're the dullard trying to change the subject, not I.

As for the FAST, go read about it...in place of the days-long EOC testing, they take a few hours-long tests throughout the year so results canthen be fed back into the classroom and remedial action taken. That's not a bad idea, but it's no substitute for a standardized test for admission to a gifted program or competitive university.

The addition of cchildren's book criterion is nonsensical and a change of what was being discussed. I think you know that CRT shows just what he said, as I've shown.

"Apropos" (sorry for the stray space) means "suitable" or "fitting"

CRT only promulgates two concepts. The first is that minorities CAN'T succeed (the Asians haven't gotten that message yet). And provides those minorities with a convenient excuse NOT to succeed.

I just don't see that as a winning formula.

One more time for the slow learners:

Google: "Asian Americans as model minority: Dismantling the MYTH. - NPR

Inform yourself or be as ignorant as Emobo and continue to publically humiliate yourself.

I'm betting you won't inform yourself.

*nods* and *chcukles*

Don't bother. I did, read it and it's either banal ("Some Asians make less than others!") or unsupported ("Asians experience systemic racism too!"). Laz clings bitterly to it, but it's weak and pointless.

But, it is not relevant unless being taught to kids.

.
Look at Pud trying to control what people think by attempting to obstruct what information they have access to.

I think I see a pattern developing.

JFC

SAD!!!

No need. We're right.

Ecc 10:2

You've never been right about CRT. You talk loudly against it but you've never been right. Not a single educator is forcing children to read CRT textbooks. Not a single school district has CRT in their official curriculum.

From a noted author who has a book on CRT coming out this year.

No, CRT as subject matter isn’t in schools; third-graders aren’t reading legal theory from the 80s written by people in their 80s.

But, it is not relevant unless being taught to kids.

The discussion was about what CRT holds as true. RG said it held that all white people are oppressors (I'm paraphraising...the post is off the scroll below this entry field). I provided two citations from CR Theorists that show that to be true. What CRT holds to be true is in no way deoendent on that being taught to kids.

I've set you straight on this so many times that the only conclusion one can reach is that you are lying and know you are lying.

Why can you not engage this honestly?
