Kurt Schlichter has written a series of thriller novels, beginning with The People's Republic, set in a future in which America's red states and blue states have split into two separate countries. And the blue states "collapse under the dead weight of their politically correct tyranny" -- they grow poor, the red states grow rich.

Now, I hope that nobody on this board, including those who are always dumping on blue-city shitholes and blue-state dystopias, is really stupid enough to believe it would turn out that way.

The blue shit holes would collapse. They already are and they're heavily restricted in their self destruction.

Unchained? They would be fucked in short order.

Red states would not get rich, but they would prosper.

Yep, you're stupid enough.

Sounds like a plea for help from a fearful man afraid that reality might break him out of his prison of two ideas.

For one thing, the idea that red states would be more prosperous than they are now, if cut off from nourishment from the blue-state-funded federal teat.

You mean the teat we don't want and don't need that you psycho's force upon us??

LOL.....yea we would. No dog was worse off for a good long flea dip..... we would lose SO MUCH DEAD WEIGHT and be better off for it.

Just how far do you think the welfare nation is going to ride on gender studies degrees, intersectionalism and free for all looting/robbery/theft, vandalism, violence and rioting??

Never heard of the red-state governments raising any protest to any of that, except when quite incredibly idiotic partisan politics require them to, e.g., refuse ACA funding for in-state Medicare and Medicaid expansion, or federal funding for high-speed rail projects.

What the blue states ride on is productivity and innovation. There is no "welfare nation," unless you mean the blue states subsidizing the red ones.

So you never heard of it.....except when they're saying it.

LOL....good one peck!! :D

What the blue states ride on is productivity and innovation.

When they were liberal yes.

But "progress" says those things are "racist" and "white nationalism" and other idiotic things.

So now your productive and innovative people are laving for more liberal (reich wing) places like Texas and Florida.

There is no "welfare nation," unless you mean the blue states subsidizing the red ones.

Sure, and we'll keep taking your shit so long as you're dumb enough to keep footing the bill.

But in the hypothetical this thread is about, not much productivity going on in the progressive blue areas. That creates inequity and is thus racist. :D Prosperity isn't allowed under the "progressive" ideal.

No productive economic activity is happening in that picture, and it's hard to see how any could, other than blue-state hikers and campers spending their money.

Because it's just a picture peck.

And your ignorance isn't my problem :D

The Dem-run (even in red states) urban agglomerations remain America's "ideopolises," the places where all innovation happens that matters. That has not changed due to political correctness or anything else, and it won't change in your lifetime. Breaking the red states out of the Union would make no difference there.

That USED to be true.

It has already changed and rapidly so for a huge number if not a majority of people already. Including myself.

It's called the internet.

You just don't need to be in the city anymore for a lot of things that up until 20ish years ago required it.

Covid lockdowns highlighted this more than probably anything else could have. If I can work from home why the fuck am I paying rent in Manhattan or SanFranJose??

Not that metro areas will go away, but they will exist as a matter of lifestyle choice rather than economic necessity as technology advances.

Such things as industrial research laboratories still have compelling reasons for physical proximity. And university campuses will always be concentrated geographically.

And yet...here RG is...not out fishing...not out hunting...not out enjoying that great outdoors....here...using the internet...

I'm pretty sure no one ever pushed farming subsidies on anyone. And we both know there'd be political armageddon if they were ever rescinded.

I could also mention the rallying cry of "Keep your government hands off my Medicare", I suppose...

It called a "Utopian" novel... didn't you know that this is the "red state" proponents wet dream and based.on the immediate response you got Bobodicksie had an orgasm at the thought of it.

Everyone likes cheap food, they never fought against interstates either...... but those are NOT the hot button issue people are ready to beef about though are they??? :D

Doesn't change the fact that even within each party there are large disagreements on the governments role in HC and VAST differences across parties, and a 1 program for all 50 states program just isn't going to happen much less be functional in the current political climate. Not ANY time soon.
