I found the movie quite boring. I even dozed off…which is easier to do when streaming at home. I have not read the books, but may give them a try. I’m always curious about the books, films, and shows that amass a cult following.

I recall stumbling upon the film mid-presentation. I watched, and waited for something to happen. Nothing did, so I selected something else to watch.

Villeneuve is an expert film maker and this movie was a good effort. It follows the book pretty faithfully, so if you are a fan of the book, do go and see the movie.

I will buy the dvd when it comes out as I do need to watch it again. Right now, I do think that his Blade Runner 2049 is a better overall SciFi movie, but I do think when part 2 comes out, the Dune movie will be looked at as a really good Sci Fi genre movie.

Also, if you are a SciFi fan, do watch Arrival, another movie by Villeneuve that is quite good.

I might agree that they failed to really… um… capitalize nor advance on any of that. The narrative was completely empty (much like the visual approach at large).

But I DO think those visuals count.

And the pacing, obeyed it.

I do not often see that sort of patience these days. It wasn’t completely reliant on the “wow” factor, they wove it in. It worked, artistically, on the eyeball. As a whole.

These days - mate - I think that might be enough for me.
