How worried should dems be in 2022?

I read a lot, from a lot of sources. Both right and left leaning (not hard right or left). Prior to the 2020 election, there was universal disdain for Trump on both sides. Biden won by being a moderate. But now, there is widespread and deep disdain, bordering on foaming at the mouth, at progressives.

The mindless parroting of climate change, of defund the police, of affirmative action seems to be driving the entire middle away from the Dems. I see this to an amazing degree in the comments on both left leaning and right leaning web sites. The 'big tent' of the Dems, with wildly progressive voices given prominence, seems to be alienating the educated masses the Dems are counting on.

Further, the 'in power' party usually gets pounded in the midterm. We may well have a strong economy, booming employment, free internet porn, and only the angry republicans show up to vote in numbers. A year out from the midterm, but from what I am seeing, things look bleak for the Dems.

No love?

Probably. And especially if they lose Virginia Tuesday.

They shouldn't be worried at all. It'd be like a guy falling off a skyscraper worrying about hitting the pavement.

I am not worried a bit. If they remain in power...little damage will occur and there's still a chance the country can be saved intact. If Republicans regain control...the inevitable happens and the country starts moving towards breakup...and the progressive states will be saved. I win either way.

Huh? I wish the disdain for Trump was universal on both sides! And there is nothing whatsoever new about "deep disdain, bordering on foaming at the mouth, at progressives". It's been an everyday occurrence at least since Bill Clinton was elected.

Convictions of elected officials hasn’t happened yet. Things will be different later on.

Oh do tell. Which convictions of elected officials do you think will play prominently in the midterm elections? Which House and Senate seats Will these convictions impact? Governorships? State legislatures?

History says they'll lose. Since the economy is not doing well, they should take a shellacking.

Dribble, this is where you're out of touch. It doesn't matter what happens in the next two or three elections. It's really gone that far.

You and I have had our disagreements in the past but we've done so in a civilized manner. I respect the fact that you're educated and observant. You've posted that you are now in a different situation. So let me ask you, are the conversations you overhear threatening direct action, or reaction? I'll surmise it's the latter.

Which ever party is in power isn't going to tolerate "Balkanization." It's just that simple. No matter how rationale you're solution may seem, it's just not going to happen without bloodshed. No one I know is looking forward to such an event, yet virtually everyone I know is preparing for it. The only difference that I can see is that the conservatives with 'bug out bags' have much longer survival plans than those with a leftist POV.

You also assume that state boundaries will remain intact.............they won't. The states will fractionate along political boundaries. Mostly rural vs urban (suburbia is up in the air). Look at the voting breakdown by counties, then look at where the food is grown and the water comes from. Without a 'peaceful' divorce it's going to get ugly.

Each state is an organized political unit with its own armed force. They are well situated to preserve their territorial integrity.

People move every day. Companies move every day. Once states start leaving...people and companies can move to a state they want to live in. It is the only non-violent solution. I don't want to live with Republicans...they don't want to live with Democrats. Simple solution. Or we can settle on non-ending violence.

Some states are better off without certain areas. Why keep a portion that doesn't contribute? Only takes?
