Primarily because it works, seemingly.

I'm a busy man. Not just the writing, but real life. And I appreciate when readers tell my they like my style. It means a lot to me. I take commissions, yes, they help me to continue eating and living.

Then there's the one who ask for me to give them a huge story gratis. And sorry, no, that ain't happening. First, not fair to people who pay me for stories, and secondly, I don't have the time for the free work requests. The stories I'm working on here are what I can get away with doing right now, and even that's a stretch.

But damned if these people don't put ideas in my head that I can't stop thinking about. I'm tempted to steal them, make them my own and publish them, lol.

95% of the time, the ideas are nothing original, just their desired story type in my prose and my unique twists on things. And then there's the 5% who present me with an idea where I reeeeally wanna have a go at it one day.

One guy wants a freebie and it's tempting. He also wants 100k words, which instakills the idea. Sorry. But wow, fun idea. Lol.

For you folks who do commissions, what's your wackiest freebie request? I know you're out there, it can't just be me. There's a lot more established and better authors than me on here.

I have never done commissioned erotica work. But I do, and I'm sure everyone else here does, sometimes get people asking if I'm interested in their story suggestions or inspiration. I say that I can listen but I might turn it into a true Frankenstein monster of how they imagined it.

Mostly it's pretty clear they aren't really a "fan of my work" and are just trying to get some work commissioned for free. Last time it was some body horror unwilling mermaid story featuring a type of marmalade sandwich girl trio.

It's not stealing if they're just floating an idea. But to contact you personally and make a request is a bit much.

There is forum section called Story Ideas. They can go there and see if anybody is interested.

My answer always is that my muse has to deliver something to me on it--and it may not be what they had requested. It also may not happen this year, if ever. If produced, it also will be mine, although I might give out a hint of where the inspiration came from on the finished story and I may let the requester know something has been written. Just the way it is. I don't close off on the possibility that the idea will be picked up by my muse at some time or other.

Nobody has ever paid me to write a story, but I've had three couples so far ask me to write a story, and I've done two of them and plan to do the third, mainly because I liked the ideas and they were right up my alley anyway. It's a fun and different dynamic. And it was extremely gratifying knowing that in the first two cases they were very happy with the stories. All three are hot/sexy wife stories.

All the cuckold stories I have written have been by request and I followed their fantasy. I'm sort of burnt out on that genre and have one I writing (by request) that just isn't going well for me at all.

I'm not someone who can write anything, it has to grab me. How I handle commissions is if the idea strikes me as hot or just something that interests me enough to see what I could do with it, I give them two prices/options.

If they want the story to be exclusively theirs to keep or if they want to pretend they wrote it somewhere down the line, its one price.

But if they're willing to have me do one for them, then tweak it a bit and self pub it under my name, its half the price because now I can make some sales on it.

My version is usually much longer and more involved and I change out character names and sometimes descriptions.

Last one I did was Hard Lessons, they requested "3-4 lit pages" and what I gave them was 17k so just over. The e-version is over 30k because I added a lot more build up and tossed in an additional character. Its not here, but for sale.

To date I think its the roughest thing I've done.

If someone specifically gives me an idea for a story and asks me to write it for them, which has never happened, and I agree to write it I would point out it’s my decision whether or not to publish it and the story belongs to me. Whether or not the finished article is what they originally had in mind. Because I’m doing it for free and spending hours of my time doing so.

If someone is paying me to write a story for them that’s different. The story would belong to them and it would only be published if they asked for it to be.

This is how I did it. I got paid nothing. I reserved all rights and published the story when and how I wanted, and I own all rights in it. But the couples that asked me to do it got a special kick from knowing I was writing with them in mind, and I enjoyed that as well.

I don't write sex fiction for money. My writing "quote" is way too high.l I write erotica for fun.

I've had some ask me to write a story based on their desires or plot ideas and I always say "no thanks."

I did just submit one I wrote for a Lit friend. That's different.

One more thing, I know a reader on here who made a comment on a story and the female writer (not someone on this forum, BTW) wrote back with the offer to write him a story for $75 bucks and including a boob pic as a temptation.

Now, that could get me to write a story on request :) (That's a joke. The above is not. It happened.)

I put on the covid 40, I'm in no danger of enticing anyone to pay me with pics of my moobs. Time to start working again, just as the weather's turning to shite.

Good thing I'm Canadian...

That sort of sounds like our legendary Freddie who, in his female stage here, posted that "she" made a living off of writing stories for folks. :D
