Greene first pressed Raskin — who led the Democrats’ prosecution of Trump during his impeachment trial after the Jan. 6 attack — asking him when he would investigate the violence surrounding the Black Lives Matter protests, according to Raskin.

“Like with Kyle Rittenhouse who went and killed two Black Lives Matter protesters?” Raskin replied to her. “I'm sure there will be an opportunity for us to get to that.”

“This is a joke,” Greene said, her voice rising, referring to the Jan. 6 investigation and the Bannon contempt vote. “Why don’t you investigate something people actually care about?”

Cheney shot back that Greene was “a joke” and that she should be focusing on Jewish space lasers, a reference to a conspiracy theory Greene previously had promoted on Facebook blaming “space lasers” controlled by a powerful Jewish family for starting wildfires in California.

the notion she's pushing–that most americans "don't care" about the insurrection/attempted coup–is enormously disrespectful to the majority of americans who witnessed what went down that day.

of course, she's just showboating to keep her name up there in front of trump's eyes.

Whaddaboutism is not confined to the Politics board.

It's increasingly become a staple of MAGA rhetoric.

A culture of victimhood.

the republicans need Cheney as their leader

Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., was caught red-handed by Cheney, a Republican congresswoman from Wyoming, sending letters to federal agencies claiming he was the ranking GOP member on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. In fact, Banks was rejected from serving on the committee because he voted to overturn election results — a demand made by violent rioters that day.

Cheney, the committee's vice-chair, called Banks out for his blatant falsehood as she entered his misleading letters into the official Congressional record.

"I would like to introduce for the record a number of letters the gentlemen from Indiana has been sending to federal agencies, dated September 16, 2021, for example, signing his name as the ranking member of the committee he's just informed the House that he's not on," Cheney said during a Thursday speech from the House floor.

I'd grab her by the fucking hair and toss her out if the chamber. I bet she would respect my treatment of her more than most. Lunatic!

We do have a Space Force now -- maybe they can take care of the Jewish space lasers.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Cali., drew a sharp rebuke from leaders of a House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection after falsely suggesting that former President Donald Trump has already been cleared of any responsibility for the events of that day by Department of Justice and FBI investigators.

"(McCarthy) has suggested, based on an anonymous report, that the Department of Justice has concluded that Donald Trump did not cause, incite, or provoke the violence on January 6th," the statement from Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wy., reads, according to CNN. "When this anonymous report was first published, the Select Committee queried the Executive Branch agencies and congressional committees involved in the investigation. We've received answers and briefings from the relevant entities, and it's been made clear to us that reports of such a conclusion are baseless."
the alleged 'fbi found no evidence' statements by mccarthy and others keen to dismiss any investigation into the events leading up to jan.6th stem from a reuters piece: this article was based on some 4 anonymous fbi sources (former and current) claiming "scant evidence" Now we all know there are trump-appointees still in the gov't anxious to do whatever they can to deflect, deny or muddy the waters, so it's unclear just how trustworthy these sources are. They may be sticking entirely to cherry-picked facts whilst side-stepping the full truth...that any investigations up till now have fallen short of where they need to go because of imposed limitations.

It's also absolutely pertinent that the report did NOT CLEAR trump of responsibility for the attack.
