So a Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian members. And our other worldly friends.

I had the turkey out thawing on the counter yesterday @11am. Some friends dropped unexpectedly by around 4 with booze and we sat outside in the warm sun until supper time, then headed out for dinner. Needless to say, turkey was forgotten about till about midnight last night. No way am I cooking it. It went straight into the garbage.

That was me out at 8 am this morning going from grocery store to grocery store looking for a turkey. Finally found one. Only 4x the price I paid for the one I threw out!

Thanks for the Turkey Slaughter Day well-wishes. Just me and my 84 year-old mother tomorrow night, so I'm just roasting a pork shoulder, squash, and potatoes. If I had more legions more people, I'd make my bacon-wrapped turducken. It's pretty glorious. 😁

Hope everyone else has a good time too.

There's predictions of not enough turkeys for Christmas here, as almost all abbatoir workers were from EU countries and now can't be bothered to get visas to return post-Covid and Brexit. And there's a shortage of CO2 for meat packaging, and the shortage of HGV drivers...

Happy turkey day Canadians!

Happy turkey day Canadians!

I'm just so impressed that the UK is going CO2-free decades ahead of most other countries ;-)

Ah, Canadian Turkey day. I thought I had slept longer than I thought and it was the end of November already.

So, the update.

A friend helped my wife clean up the dishes last night. Seeing the dishwasher this morning was an education. No attempt to scrape off food still stuck to the plates or rinse. I had to take everything out to soak. I'd hate to be a dishwasher in her house. (for the record I shopped and cooked the whole damn meal as I have for the last 34 years so don't you damn feminists be dissing me for not helping clean up) ;)

All-in-all though, a great meal and a great time with friends. Friends who hunted down Greek Ek Mek for dessert cause they know I love it.

But a weird thing this morning. We have a VLT (very large tree) out front. It's been freezing overnight the last few days. The leaves were dropping like snowflakes this morning. It was dead calm and not a hint of wind. More like the tree said, "we're done here, beat it!" A while later the wind came up and the leaves STOPPED dropping. I can't explain that!

Is it a female tree?
