idaho gov&lt. gov clash over vaccine mandate

Idaho Gov. Brad Little vowed to rescind an executive order issued by fellow Republican Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin on Tuesday banning vaccine requirements while he traveled to Texas for a photo-op at the southern border.
*
Little had already issued an executive order in April to ban state agencies from requiring vaccines, but not schools or businesses. McGeachin bragged on Twitter that she had "fixed" Little's directive.

McGeachin's order came as the state grapples with an alarming shortage of ICU beds amid Idaho's worst surge of infections yet. Some hospitals in the largely rural state of 1.8 million people — less than half the population of Los Angeles — have been forced to ration care for the first time ever.

so, basically, 'fuck the children's health, i wanna run against the governor and want the backing of the deplorables for my own gain'

I wonder what business the governor of Idaho had in South Texas in the first place. Sounds like an appeal to xenophobia to me.

Showing how the other party is fucking up is just politics, xenophobia has nothing to do with it you ya anti-American piece of shit.

That's Idaho for ya. It's getting more and more fucked up every day with this kind of crap. Brad Little is actually one of the more sane and reasonable politicians in Idaho. There are (for example) several overt and outspoken racists on the state legislature- McGeachin being one of them.

Edit: and if you think "Disease is a bitch" then I hope for your sake you never find out how much of a "Bitch" it really is. Although frankly, because of some of the callous, selfish and utterly spiteful attitudes I read on here (Case in point: The post above this one) it would serve some people right if they DID get sick and die (or at least have their health permanently ruined, so they live to learn their lesson) because of this illness.

Apparently, Idaho's "Famous Potatoes" are in the governor's head.

I would think you meant the lieutenant governor's head. It's the lieutenant governor who was erasing some vaccination mandates.

She saw a chance to make a play for the governors job.

Idaho will decide if they want the mandates from (D)eez or freedom.

Considering just how red Idaho is, I'm betting she becomes governor.

Not hating white people enough for the racist lefty fee fees doesn't make them racist.

And even if they are actual racist so what? You and the (D)'eez love and openly promote racism..... you guys love it when it's your brand.

Covid? LOL no dice, it didn't even slow me down.

I have had Dengue fever though... that is not a joke.

Life and reality are callous and spiteful. Already had it, C19 barely even registered as "maybe some early allergies" because all I ever got was a slightly runny nose.

You're just a spiteful because I refuse to bend the knee like you and it pisses you and all the other totalitarian control freaks off because you can't do shit about it.

And what lesson would you want me to learn? To toe the line with a smile when an ALMIGHTY Democrat with a savior complex goes on a power trip and says so??

oh yea that's going to happen real soon....

Little known fact: The navy does submarine research in Idaho. I spent the wonderful winter of 1982 there.

august
Aug 14 (Reuters) - The number of children hospitalized with COVID-19 in the United States hit a record high of just over 1,900 on Saturday, as hospitals across the South were stretched to capacity fighting outbreaks caused by the highly transmissible Delta variant.

The Delta variant, which is rapidly spreading among mostly the unvaccinated portion of the U.S. population, has caused hospitalizations to spike in recent weeks, driving up the number of confirmed and suspected pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations to 1,902 on Saturday, according to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

latest stats indicate around 1,600 children currently hospitalised because of covid

and then there's long covid, and the desperate toll auto-antibodies can wreak on the infected:
Widespread and long-term inflammation during severe COVID-19 may cause the immune system to produce antibodies to pieces of the virus it wouldn’t normally recognize. Some of those pieces might resemble human proteins enough to trigger the production of autoantibodies.

Excessive inflammation could also boost production of autoantibodies that had previously only existed in the body at very low levels. Vaccination against COVID-19 is much less inflammatory than infection with the virus. In a separate study that looked at COVID vaccination, none of the healthy volunteers developed autoantibodies.

“Patients who, in response to vaccination, quickly mount appropriate antibody responses to the viral spike protein should be less likely to develop autoantibodies,” Utz says.
