I’m on week four of my recovery. Physical therapy started on Monday and as the blood seems to flow so does my desire.

I played with my husband last night. He gave me oral but I couldn’t get comfortable. It ended up being more frustrating than anything else.

I’m looking for advice and ideas, and I’m definitely interested in talking to people who’ve had a similar procedure.

I had the same surgery a few years ago
PT is a bitch
You probably don’t want to here this but it just takes time

Probably what I need to hear and be doing.

You’re right! I don’t want to hear that. Sadly I probably need to hear it.

Go slow and listen to the DR and Physical Therapist. I had to get mine redone to cut through the scar tissue that built up. PT is brutal, but home exercises will get you through it much faster. I was stuck in a recliner for the first 6 weeks, if you are already able to lay down on a bed, you are way ahead of the game. Wishing you luck and a speedy recovery.

Pain meds!

Okay, I've had two of these RC surgeries, and PT is tough, especially the first time. Do your home PT religiously and you'll get back to normal in less time. You shouldn't be in a LOT of pain while passive in bed. PT has its share of pain, but it gets better almost every day. Don't push your recovery.
Are you still taking the hospital-issued pain meds, or just tylenol/ibuprofen? The heavy-duty pain meds probably aren't the greatest for desire. While I'm probably a lot older than you, sex wasn't happening especially during the early weeks of my recovery. I managed my first time, by just taking (2) 650 mg. tylenol tabs and no vicodin/oxy's., but the 2nd time, I succumbed to prescription pain meds for the first week, but I was 67 at the time. Good luck.

Yep I’m still taking the prescription stuff, but I want to be off it by the end of the month.

Not starting for the Yankees.

Yep the PT is painful…

I had that surgery a couple of years ago. Once the arm brace was off (after six weeks), the arm was stiff, but I kept with the PT. My therapist told me that you're going for uncomfortable, not painful. Uncomfortable is where the improvement happens. And you'll be happy to know that after six months, all the pain was gone and I had full mobility. I hope your recovery is as good.

I like the sound of that..

I had shoulder replacement surgery and just had to wait a while for sex. Fortunately, I healed amazingly quickly, but even when I was able to have sex, it was comfortable only with my wife on top.

No advise, just best wishes that you recover as fast as possible and with no lingering issues.

I had rotator cuff surgery abt 10 years ago. It was abt 2 months before I even wanted to think abt sex. :)

Lowering my dosage of oxy.

I’m transitioning from the pharmaceutical to CBD/THC. Marijuana in any form has always made me sexually excited, and that hasn’t changed. I’m learning how to do things left handed..

Sex on my side is what I found after a second shoulder surgery. Lie with your affected shoulder up, it was more comfortable for me than on my back. Drape your leg over him and he can reach down and tickle your clit while he fucks you.

Completely off the Oxy!

I’ve stopped taking the Oxy and I’m using THC (gummy and smoking) and CBD for pain management.

So far it’s working. The side effect being my libido is ticking up. My shoulder really hurt after I had an orgasm on Saturday morning.

Sorry for the late reply. This won't help you at this point but might help others reviewing the thread since I've had this done to both shoulders.

As far as sex: go slow. Don't rush into anything--anything--which might make you wonder if you just undid the work the surgeon just performed. Going through a second surgery is one definition of hell. If I was a female I would become a big fan of oral, handjobs and getting pounded on the bed where you can just lie on your stomach, let your arm lie beside your body and have a nice fantasy. IIRC we just did oral and that was ok with me.

As far as rehab: it can be a bitch. It's painful for most. I developed adhesions and ended up in PT for nearly a year the first time. The second time, 1.5 years. The PT was trying to pull my arm to the side and it looked like he was reeling in a 200 lb marlin; leaning back in his chair, face red, muscles shaking, while I was pretty much the same and mf-ing him. The PT wanted me to go for another year of this agony but I looked into the graston technique and had my chiropractor do it for $40 co-pay and after 30 mins, my range of motion was 200% better. Three treatments of this and I was back to weight training.

Stop the narcotics as soon as you can. Addiction doesn't run in our family but they gave them to me longer than normal because of the extended painful PT sessions and I started to crave them. I stopped immediately.

Full recovery for me was 2-2.5 years but I do a lot of weight training so I had to ramp up. The 80-20 rule says that the last 20 percent takes a while to attain.

I hope this helps somebody.

Good time to practice the 'relaxation' and 'breathing' exorcises of tantra. Get into a relaxed position where all muscles anywhere in your body can be fully relaxed. The shoulder specifically. As well don't forget the muscle that stops pee or the other that restrains a fart. Pee first maybe? Anyway, from that relaxed state have your lover handy to do all the work facilitating your arousal. A vibrator if you can stand it. Your job is to remain relaxed. If the provider causes you to tense anywhere in pleasure stop and start over. Getting to the point where your orgasm occurs from the completely relaxed state will not only protect your arm, but find new heights of pleasure you may not have known before.
Practicing the relaxing and breathing I have spontaneous orgasms that cause my release in double time that lasted much longer.
The part you have to learn is remaining relaxed. Not simple. But fun for your lover if they enjoy pleasuring you.

Thanks for the great advice..
