I was just re-watching the chest binder scene in Ep.3.8. My oldest child uses one and I don't think I really understood how much it meant to them until we watched that scene together. Now I cry happy tears for them every time I watch it.

There's a lot I love about this show.

I love Maeve so much. She's complex and takes up space and reminds me of the teenager I was. My home life was incredibly difficult and like her I had absentee parents and the responsibility of taking care of younger siblings.

Maeve is smart and has so much potential. I just want the best for her

It's my 4-year-old's favorite movie. Unfortunately there's one scene where Will Ferrell yells, "Shit!" over and over. It's his favorite scene to re-enact.

Even the worst characters, I'm so invested in. This is one of those shows where every time it ends, I'm a little sad.

Adam is one of the most complex characters I’ve seen on fictional tv in a long time. I don’t want to say he’s my favorite but he’s up there.

Ruby also grew into her own as a character this season.

Jean is probably my idol, though.

My favorite character is Jean. Partly because I've had a crush on Gillian Anderson since something like 1994. But I love the fact that she knows so much, can talk about all these incredibly important topics that others find taboo, but then can still be a total mess in her own life half the time.

Honorable mention to Adam and Ruby both. Because they are both played like "villains," mean kids who think less of others and are ultimately revealed to have hidden depths and trauma that doesn't justify their actions but makes it easy to understand. I've long been a sucker for that kind of character.

This season, I would say Adam, because watching him as he becomes more comfortable with himself and pushes himself to make positive changes in his life made me cheer and cringe in equal measure. All the main characters are written and acted so well, but he stood out to me this season.

And I adore Aimee as well. She's another character who has changed so much since the start of the show. Her confidence has grown, and she stands up for herself so much more. Plus Goat, the vulva cupcakes... what's not to love?

Aimee reminds me so much of my sister. We affectionately call her cute because she's equal parts cute and stupid. In the most endearing way possible.

I really hope that shows like these allow kids to grow up knowing that they're ok just the way they are. What a gift!

Shows like this are why I had Netflix to begin with. But it will be a while before I can afford to reactivate. Good to know there is another season though!
