I'm posting this thread to officially kick of the "Pink Orchid: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica"

Stories are to be posted in February 2022, and the story list will be published on the International Women's Day, March 8th.

Theme of the event: sex positivity, female empowerment, women as the subjects of their own lives. Women in control of their own pleasure and passion. Erotic tales where women make sense and have agency. The aim is not to turn tables and write femdom, male-bashing or revenge stories, but produce sex positive stories of women existing for their own sake and living, loving and lusting on their own terms.

This event is open for absolutely everyone. Stories are not limited by anything other than Literotica's standard rules - you can write in any category.

Rules:
1. Write a story in which a female character has agency and makes sense on her own terms.
2. Include text "Pink Orchid" in the Note to Admin-field
3. Post your story in February of 2022

That's it! Now go forth and write! If you have any comments, questions or ideas, post on this thread.

Announcement on the story side

Edited to add

2022 yearly contest schedule has been published and Valentine Day's contest schedule is

Valentine's Day (February 14th)
themes: romantic love, Valentine's Day, Cupid, sensuality, etc.
starts: January 14
closes: February 7
winners announced: February 14

If your Valentine Day's story fits this event description, or vice versa, you're very welcome to post the story in both. This is a writer's challenge and not a contest so a story can be entered to both lists. If you want to do that, follow the Valentine Day's contest instructions on what to put in note to admin field (in addition to our "Pink Orchid"!) and post after the beginning of February and before the contest deadline :) ...and also be sure to follow any other contest guidelines, for example the story can't be a part of an ongoing series in a contest, whereas here we don't have such limitations.

Edited to add

750 word challenge is hosted again, and it overlaps this event perfectly. So, if you want to write a 750 entry to this event, you can include it in both! Maybe we ought to have a subchallenge to write a 750 word women-centric Valentine's Day story :)

Check the 750 word challenge specifics from event announcements for what to include in note to admin.

Edited to add

List of entries
532k words, 44 stories and 1 poem, featuring 18 categories! Thank you so much for everyone who participated!

This sounds like an interesting event. I think you will see many very different perspectives on the subject.

I hope to see many takes on the subject, because that would mean many authors participate :)

My motivation behind the event is that I recently noticed that searching with a tag "female empowerment" brings up all of eight stories, out of which two are my own. That is not a lot. I think we could do better.

Easy enough. Most stories with female POV would probably apply. Neat really: makes it easy for those people who specifically want the "female perspective on erotica" to find it quite easily.

For anyone concerned if your story idea will be applicable

I'm not an authority but I do host the event, so I will personally offer to beta read for anyone who wants to hear my opinion on their entry - provided it's humanly possible, so please ask early. Any category or subject matter will do. I'm not squeamish.

Will keep in mind, apple girl.

I'm a dork, I never thought about adding female empowerment as a tag to my works. I have some edits to publish, so I just might include that as I go along.

If I understand this correctly, it can't be posted before February? Because I happen to have something close to being finished, and I think it would fit into this contest.

This is defo my genre so I hope my word gremlins can motivate me between now and then. It's what winter is for :)

I love this idea!

You can only use so many tags though. I've used "female POV" in the past and i don't seem to be alone with that. I like to think most stories written from 1st person female perspective would apply.

In other words, take how women are portrayed in the majority of stories here, and do the opposite.

Why do I have the feeling the incels will be in trolling overload....stories about women doing what they want, the nerve.

Let the trolls troll. It's a good opportunity for women to find authors who write erotica for them. Maybe there will even be some consensus on how to tag such stories in the future, but if not, readers will have somewhere to start.

Maybe most, but there are a lot of "I looked at myself in the mirror, caressing my gigantic tits..." stories here that I wouldn't consider female empowerment.

Omenainen, lovely idea for a contest - I have difficulty doing contest stories (currently struggling through my second ever) but I'll see if inspiration hits.

It's not a contest though, is it? Just an event. Or is there a possibility it might turn into a contest?
